book/card

Just wanted to share this fun idea that I like to do for kids birthday presents!Instead of a card, which can cost a few bucks at the store, I like to purchase a book from the dollar store, or dollar section at Target, and use that in lieu of a card...the kid will love it much more than a folded piece of paper, guaranteed!A little tag on the back … [Read more...]

So, besides being super duper cute and my daughter Sadie's all time favorite new bib, this little number is also useful at catching those pesky globs of applesauce/spaghetti/drool! Want to make your own? Here's how:You'll need:a bib to trace for your patterntwo bib pieces, one for the backing and one to sew your ruffles toa selection of fabric … [Read more...]

time out mat

We have finally reached the need for Time Out. Sadie has started becoming deliberately naughty. She still doesn't understand the concept of time out, which makes it HARD...but I thought having a specific place set aside would perhaps make it clearer. (pipe dream?)Anyways, this is how I made a quick, easy and cheap time out mat. You'll need:fabric … [Read more...]

mini chef

ok. NOW Sadie is really ready to cook in her kitchen. Before now she was not fully prepared for the messiness of cooking with felt...the lint, the er...loose threads I always seem to miss. But now with her new apron, she's ready to go!I used an old child's apron my mom dug up for Sadie to use as a bib the other day. It was pretty simple to make, … [Read more...]

the evolution of the nursery was as follows: (prepare yourself) this is what the nursery looked like when we bought our house almost 2 years ago. yikes, right?!I was loving the palm tree border and lovely light switch...but they had to go.(go ahead, don't be scared...take a closer look)my favorite were the random cords sticking out of the … [Read more...]

sour girl

This girl loves her sour. This lemon had a little hole where the stem had been (we picked it ourselves from a friends tree), and Sadie's little finger found it's way in......and to her mouth. She spent the whole ride home doing this and would've kept it up during lunch, but she was pretty tired and instead almost fell asleep at her highchair. huh. … [Read more...]

updated nursery

so it's been really overcast here and these are the best pics I got of the new nursery...but I thought I'd share them anyways! I'm pretty sure Sadie thinks she's the coolest, with her two rooms. She'll be in for a shock when the baby shows up, lol.the new bedding I made awhile ago...the bumper is a bit wonky but looks ok. I LOVE the fabric. The … [Read more...]

A few days ago I was given this award from my old/new friend BriAnna…we lived in the same town growing up and recently found each other's blogs...she's so crafty and her daughter is adorable. I only wish we lived closer so we could sew together! Thanks for the award, BriAnna! Now, to pick 7 blogs to pass this award along to...not an easy feat!1. … [Read more...]

bib-stravaganza

yes, I named this post bib-stravaganza, and yes, I am that cheesy.Would you rather me call it "here's a bunch of bibs I made"? well, call it what you like, Sadie needed some new bibs. She's going through them in rapid speed these days, and I (the laundress) just couldn't keep up. Plus, it was a good way to use up some scraps from the girls' … [Read more...]
