During a quick trip to Goodwill with my sisters yesterday, I found, among an awesome set of framed "season" prints, this cute Target reject shirt for $4. I loved the print, but the shirt wouldn't have really worked for me. I decided to get it and make a skirt or something for Sadie out of it. Then after studying it for a bit, I thought, hey maybe I … [Read more...]
what’s with all this posting?
There's just too much fun stuff going on, that's all. Today my mom and the other twin moms in the ward threw a shower for our bishop's wife who's having twins but who's moving to Utah in a few weeks. Phew. That woman is a trooper with a capital T! We're going to miss Marcie so much! I work with her in Primary, and she is such a great friend and … [Read more...]

The top is officially done! I finished it today during her nap, hooray! I love it. It's very big though. Like twin size. It will cover a lot of people on the couch, which is kind of what I had in mind for it, a throw. Maybe it will be Sadie's bedspread when she gets into a real bed. We'll see. Now to pick out the backing fabric and binding and … [Read more...]
getting there…
In my daydreams, this quilt is already quilted and bound. Ah, denial. There is still much to be done, but the top is almost done! (and just in time for the summer heat.)Just need some more fabric, er, a sheet from WalMart, (can't beat $4 for a twin) to finish the sides. I used the tutorial here, and am pretty much copying the quilt in the picture. … [Read more...]

The pinwheel quilt is coming along...it's so fun making the squares! Very repetitive and calming. It's nice to sit down when I have 20 minutes and make a few squares. (And for hours while she's napping, let's be real here.)I still need a lot more though, and I will need some more red and yellow fabrics, I don't have a lot of that kind of fabric in … [Read more...]

I feel like I should have a separate craft/sewing blog because of how much I post about that here. (lately) But then again...nope. Too lazy. So this has been my obsession of the past 18 hours. I wanted to make a patch-work type bib late last night, so I went and made one. (and four more this morning/afternoon...I adore nap time) It was AFTER I said … [Read more...]

Am I boring you? By sewing too much? Cause if I am...oh well. My blog, my life! well, this picture is pretty self explanatory, I made another shirt today, and it went much smoother this time, I was able to make it faster (although it's not hemmed), and didn't waste time on the directions! (much) I LOOVE this fabric. Isn't it adorable? now my baby … [Read more...]
My first shirt
I cut it out and sewed most of it last night, until the sleeves stopped me in my tracks. I've never put sleeves on in my life. Luckily, my mom who is an experienced seamstress (who does offer lessons!), is only a mile and a phone call away. I went over there during Sadie's morning nap and she showed me a VERY easy way to put in sleeves. The pattern … [Read more...]

Could it be ANY easier to dress up a plain jane tee? I found this idea here at this awesome blog and just had to try it out. Plus, it's great to use up those tiny scraps that you just can't part with...which is something of a trend here lately. Sadie figured out how to sit down after standing at her play table today! So exciting, and she wanted to … [Read more...]
My two new pals
Oh, my Black and Decker beauty...how do I love thee? Got me a new iron! A BB&B as-is deal for $15! Originally $40. Just a display model, so it works like a charm and much better than my $20 cheapo that was all dirtied up with fusible interfacing which didn't come off with the magic potion that said it would come off so boy am I glad I snatched this … [Read more...]
