Yep, I'm not quite done with the Great Top-Sewing Marathon of 2013. (say that in a loud announcer voice in your head...ok fine don't. But it's not as impressive a title if you don't) I really just kind of got into a sewing frenzy and started grabbing all the knits off my shelves and started cutting...not the best way to do it, probably. But it … [Read more...]
some new raglan tees
Sadie has been needing some new tees, so I set out to make her some the other day. These are so quick to whip up, especially with a serger! (also, look out for a post about a cool tip regarding sergers in the next week!) I use my raglan tee tutorial, and used both ribbed knit for the collar/sleeves, and regular jersery knit fabric as well. Both … [Read more...]
blue polka dot ice cream shirt
Ok, how's about that little look Miss C is giving me? LOL! It's like she's telling me with her eyes to hurry it up and finish so she can play with her new Squinkie. (our new form of model payment around here) Either that or she's plotting to break into my chocolate stash...which is NOT ok. Mama needs her chocolate. Then 2 seconds later she threw … [Read more...]
bicycle class picnic blouse
Confession: I had never sewn with an Oliver and S pattern before this top.I know, I know! And I called myself a sewing blogger! lol. I have copied their looks a few times, but after having used one of their patterns, I am a convert.Another confession: Get ready for a slew of Oliver and S projects because I am now obsessed.I made a class picnic … [Read more...]
purple striped tee
I did a little refashion the other week and it turned into this little square necked top! It's made from a thrifted tee (I always forget to take a before pic, just imagine a really boxy tee and pretend I did), and I decided to play with the stripes a bit! Taking my cues from this fab tutorial...this tee was created. The knit I was working with was … [Read more...]
KCWC: raglan tees
In the interest of stash busting (ya know....because that means I can buy more fabric if I use what I have, right?), I made these two long sleeved raglan tops for the Sadester....seriously they are so fast! The longest part was doing that hedgehog applique. This tee needed a little somethin' so I decided to "put a hedgehog on it". (Adrianna's … [Read more...]
KCWC: the sadie tunic
This girl is having too much fun posing her heart out this week! She's earning tons of squinkies, too, so she's in heaven pretty much. So for this tunic I used Shauna's fantastic Sadie tunic pattern. It was just a matter of time til I sewed up this one...after all it has a great name! ;) The fabric is Josephine Kimberling Just Dandy in Scattered … [Read more...]
KCWC: lace and magenta top
I thrifted this super soft tee and refashioned it into this layered lacy top...you maybe can't tell, but the lace is layered with strips of fabric cut from the sleeves of the original tee. I have to rework the neck a bit but besides that it came together fairly quickly! Just another fall basic...I think that's why I love KCWC so much, it forces me … [Read more...]
KCWC: grey polka dot top
I really love how this top turned out! So hipster-ish. I made it with some of this huge bolt of grey fabric that I got a long time ago, and was glad to use some of it up. I used fabric paint for the dots and one of those foam dot brushes...just eyeballed the distances between dots. Added some bands around the sleeves and bottom to keep it fitted, … [Read more...]
KCWC: leggings and raglan top
I actually started a little early on KCWC-on Saturday a good friend came over to learn how to make leggings for her little girl, and after we made a pair with this heart fabric I had to make some of my own with the leftover fabric. (once you've made a few they don't take much time at all...or assembly line them out! p.s. thanks Greta for the … [Read more...]
