so this is like two tutorials in one. wowzas! the first part is the bias tape, and then comes the washcloth. fun stuff. here we go! Click below for more! first off, here is a picture showing what the bias is...basically diagonally across your fabric. (sorry if you knew that, but i didn't for a loong time) you'll want to cut strips in whatever width … [Read more...]
scrub a dub
sadie was due for some new washcloths. her tiny newborn ones were just not cutting it anymore. (well, i have a few larger ones, but only a few) luckily...i had some terry cloth that i had gotten at joann's in the remnant bin for like $1.00 or something. woohoo! so i made some bias tape and cut out some squares and whala! new washcloths for pennies! … [Read more...]
play oven mitts
so, i thought i was quite brilliant thinking of this.i have bursts of brilliancy sometimes, you see.i've had these dollar store oven mitts that my mom got me for awhile. i loove the fabric. very retro! i figured i could use them in sadie's play kitchen (you know, whenever we get one), and she would just look cute with these huge oven mitts on her … [Read more...]
one happy monster
ok, sorry cassy. this outfit won't be a surprise. but aren't you smiling now? i just had to share this uber cute outfit i made for my bestie cassy's baby boy, due in november. first, i scored the pants on clearance at target for $1.11. sorry to tell you the price of your gift, cass, but i thought you'd be appreciative of the score. you can't really … [Read more...]
an on day
at least i rebounded quickly from my off day yesterday! thanks to another trip to wal-mart for the right pectin, i finished the peach jam. (delicious)i used this tutorial/recipe...very simple. i don't know why i've never made it before. glaring oversight on my part.i also made this dress for sadie from start to almost finish during her afternoon … [Read more...]
some new stuff
i made these outfits for sadie today...i love the material on this one...and that trim on the bottom of the skirt. I got the skirt fabric from a friend, and the brown and teal fabrics were remnants, at $1.50 per piece. I had the trim already, so this outfit came out to be oh so cheap! love that. this dress was so easy i almost feel like i can't … [Read more...]
helloo floating hand
so lately it's been a bit challenging keeping sadie entertained (quietly) during church. we bring books for her to look at, but beyond that, i'm stumped.i don't really want to bring her stuffed animals. they are quiet, but really she just tosses them around. i don't really want a pile of poor defenseless animals behind our pew every week. so...hand … [Read more...]
next time won’t you sing with me
i know sadie is far from knowing her alphabet, but when did that ever stop me from making something?never.i got the idea here, and made them at our craft night last week. they're super easy and fun to make. basically, a layer of batting in between some fabric...then you sew around, and clip the edges, and it frays in the wash.i wanted to have this … [Read more...]
i heart my new cutting mat
For reals. Why did I never get one before now? I used a cheapo (small) scrapbook cutting mat that i got for $2, and a cheapo rotary blade was...well, cheap. I can't believe I made quilts with that thing. Yesterday Aimee, Kim, and I (plus kiddos) went to Joann's, and both Kim and I got these SAH-Weet cutting mats at 50% off. Gotta love those … [Read more...]
