Yes, THE Riley Blake fabric company that you probably know and love and buy too much fabric from. (oh, just me? naw) This is one of the cool projects I was so coyly referring to last week. They sent me some lovely Sew Cherry fabric to play around with, and I decided to make some cinched up skirts-just like this one. Of course there's a full … [Read more...]

tee shirts to dress refashion
I made this dress months ago, but somehow never took any pictures of it. I found some cute printed tees at my thrift store, so I cut off the bottom of a white tee, cut strips of the tee shirts, gathered them if needed, and sewed them into a quick dress. I used the existing hem of a tee for the bottom so it was a really easy refashion! Comfy and … [Read more...]
ruffley peasant top collar tutorial (and some winners)
Peasant tops are so fun to play around with-so versatile, and easy to sew up. They are great to try if you're just starting out sewing. I came up with this fun ruffled collar and wanted to share. Violette Field Threads pattern review and giveaway
****This giveaway is now closed****I just adore how this skirt turned out. So does Sadie, luckily. (she'll wear anything for some candy though...did I tell you I ran out of Pez the other day? and by other day I mean month. We're running on white chocolate chips. Nasty things, but Sadie likes em.) The little button-on apron is adorable. It's … [Read more...]
Mama Stellato pattern review and sale!
Ok, cute baby alert. May cause excessive nom nomming of cheekies. (well, just for me actually, you can't have her cheekies) This sweet little dress doesn't hurt, eh? I whipped it up the other day...(I say that so nonchalantly but it really was that easy!)...using my sponsor Mama Stellato's Gracie Dress pattern. It was an easy pattern to follow-a … [Read more...]
a few new tops for me…(yes, more!)
I've been getting so brave with sewing tops for myself. And by brave I mean having too much fun with my elastic, as you'll see. I'm a big fan of the elasticy waistband-gives you somewhat of a shape but is comfy. Gotta love that. This top I made with Prudent Baby's tute, after stumbling across Anna's again. Love hers.I got me some more voile too! … [Read more...]
the cutesy top
I really don't know what to call this one...you could call it the "copied-a-shirt-I-thrifted", but that doesn't have a good ring to it. I could also call this "the shirt that was supposed to fit me but didn't so my sister got to have it" shirt. Either way, it's pretty darn cute, and my sis looks pretty darn cute in it too. Hence the cutesy top. … [Read more...]
ric rac flower tutorial
Aren't these little ric rac flowers gorgeous? I did not quite understand the full cuteness power of ric rac until recently, but I count myself enamored. My crafty cousin Jenni first showed me a flower like this last year at my sister's wedding, and I promptly (and sadly) forgot about them! Until I needed a quick add on to a skirt and had ric rac … [Read more...]
laminated cotton Baprons (and some in the shop!)
My fabulous new sponsor, Kelly from Oil Cloth Addict, sent me some laminated cotton to play with. Have you ever heard of laminated cotton? It's fabulous and waterproof, but not as stiff as oilcloth. It's really got a nice drape to it. You can read more about it on her blog! It's also more kid friendly than oil cloth, for bibs and food pouches and … [Read more...]
