Ava is moving up into 24 mo & 2T clothing! Which is exciting because I get to sew her some new stuff up!
Fun Fact: I get tired of seeing some things I have made over and over again on the older girls.
I LOVE changing up their wardrobes often, and gave a TON of their old (I’ll be honest, some barely worn) clothes to my sister in law who was happy to get them for my niece to use…kinda a win-win. 😉
It’s the plight of the kids clothing blogger, right? Always something new to be made, but their dressers have a finite amount of room….
Well anyways. I had a hankering to make an easy cap sleeve top with a zipper in back.
Then I remembered Kate’s Little Zippy top pattern!
She emailed it over to me right away (well, I asked her since we’re tight like that yo) and I immediately cut out like 4.
(I did receive the pattern for free but all thoughts and opinions are my own)
First of all, I LOVE how fast they are to make. (C and S both have one I’ll share with you another day)
It’s only got 4 pattern pieces. simple. quick. My kind of pattern.
I love that the smaller sizes only need 1/2 yard of fabric!
I had this cotton & steel 1/2 yard sitting around and wham. done. faster than you can drive to Target*, I had a new top.
*Ok, if you live in the country far away from Target….but anyways.
Second of all-I love that it’s the perfect silhouette for showing off a favorite or bold fabric. So fun!
they have a HUGE selection if you’re stocking up for some fun Zippy tops!
Second verse! Same as the first! A little more flowery and definitely not worse.

You might recognize this fabric-I made an Olivia top with it for Sadie awhile back…Charlotte’s wearing that one lately.

and that zipper? Vintage, from my grandma’s stash.

and last, but not least-a rayon black and white rose printed zippy!
with a bright pink zipper because you gotta pop your zipper if you go for B&W.

Diaper booty. Egads.
I think I’ve told you this before, but oh well!… I only had a son and never any little girls, so I am so GREEN with jealousy that you get three beautiful, cute, adorable and photogenic little girls!! (I think Ava is my favorite of them all and the one that looks so much like you!)…
Awesomeness. Love everything you do! Keep your fingers crossed that someday I will get a granddaughter (or two) and then I will go to town. In the meantime, I will just watch your girls as they grow!

well would you look at little miss sassypants up there?? i guess it’s been almost a year since i saw her but man, she is totally not a baby anymore! cute tops, dude! the growing is why i love sewing for kids; they always need more! and having recently given a bunch of Em’s clothes to my niece, it is pretty fun to see her wearing them!
definitely a sassy toddler now! she’s got a mind of her own.

Oh my goodness, Ava is such a cute little model!
Just a question, because I’m dying to make this for my 17 month old next summer 🙂 Do you feel like the zipper will irritate their skin in the back? Just curious. Your daughter is A-dorable and the shirts are darling!
so far it hasn’t bothered her 🙂
Love those tops…. I need them for my baby girl! I’m hoping to get a serger for my birthday next year…so I can make more clothing pieces.

I have this pattern in my size and now you’ve convinced me to get the mini pattern too! Ava is adorable these tops and way spunky too!
The last two pictures are just too much ! And that look over the shoulder ? And those hands on hips ? STOP IT WITH ALL THAT SASSINESS and CUTENESS !!!!!!!!
