ย I hosted another valentine exchange party this past week, and I think it was even better than last year!
The kids had a blast playing with each other, passing out their cute little valentines, and of course, stuffing their faces with as many goodies as possible….and the mommas had a blast chatting…it’s what we do best.
I made a tiny garland for our chalkboard and wrote (quite sloppily…man, chalk is hard to write with!) Happy Valentine’s Day! I used all of my pink and white cake stands! Love when I can re-use them.
I made a really easy doily garland-taped them to some yarn. Done. I thought I had kept my conversation heart garland from last year but alas…I must have thrown it out…or hidden it exceptionally well from myself.
I made some chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, aren’t the little cupcake liners fun? They’re from Walmart, believe it or not. (Sadie was ticked off at me when she saw I did the sprinkles-I was in a rush so I didn’t think to have her help but she usually does with sprinkles. I’ll have to make it up to her sometime…like, let her eat a whole jar by herself?)
On to the sugar cookies! I had SO, so much fun doing these. I found the scallop square cutter at Walmart (again, who knew they had such hip baking stuff?), and saw these and had to make some LOVE stamp cookies! (I also learned how to do the marbling effect from that post)
I love the chevron one also. Ya know I just had to put my thumb into the icing on that one right after I took this pic…at least it was after pics!
Cupid’s arrows! So fun, but more awkward to decorate than you might think. Still, the stripes were my faves.
There was only one cookie left by the end, and that was snatched up as well pretty quickly-so they were a hit. ๐
This lace cookie was my pride and joy. Meaning, the other lace ones were….um. yeah. Not so cute.
The hearts were so fun to make-and easy to get creative with.
I made some felt flower pins for the mommas-with this tutorial and this one too. I attached them to some quick cards I made that said “If friends were flowers, I’d pick you!” I didn’t get any better pics, sorry. I also made some “Sugar Mama” body scrub-which I’ll be posting about soon!
On the left are the girls’ Hogs and Kisses and I love you to pieces Valentines.
We also did a fun and easy Valentine craft project-making little sun catcher thingy bobs…necklaces…whatevs.
Of course, I can’t find the link to where I found this idea. (you’d think I’d have pinned it, right? nope) I searched and searched but to no avail. Leave a comment if you know where it’s from originally!
Basically, I cut out some hearts with my Silhouette, and then sandwiched a large heart between two pieces of contact paper, with the kids filling in the center with smaller hearts before we did the sandwiching. Punch some holes and add some yarn and you’ve got an adorable little….doodad necklace sun-catcher thing.
It was so much fun, and the moms got really creative with their Valentines! (I didn’t get a decent shot of them…but there were superhero, butterfly, and flower lollipops, homemade hershey’s kisses (actually made from rice krispie treat!), and some gummi frogs that claimed the girls were “Unfrogettable”, among other fun Valentines! What are your plans? Do you like Valentine’s Day? I know some people don’t, but I think it’s fun, especially with young kiddos.ย
So adorable, what a great idea.
