I put together these little thank you gift for my nurses whenever I have this baby-I’ve never done that before but I saw a few versions while browsing Pinterest and thought it was a sweet idea. I have appreciated my nurses so much with my other births so I thought this would be a nice way to let them know, besides of course verbally telling them so. (unless they’re not nice and then I’ll withhold the goodies….haha just kidding….or am I….)
So I bought some chocolate bars, gum, chapstick, and antibacterial gel (things I would assume almost anyone would appreciate), packaged them up in some cello bags, and then got to try out my new Lifestyle crafts Letterpress for the tags! Also the Epic 6 die cutter…fun new tools to add to your crafting collection if you haven’t yet!

It was surprisingly easy to figure out (me and new things sometimes don’t get along on account that I’m not very patient), and I can’t wait to use it for more projects! I can see some cards, etc. in my future!
UPDATE: The nurses I gave these to LOVED them and were really appreciative of them! It made my heart happy to give them a little token of our appreciation of their help and support. 🙂
As a nurse, I would love to receive a cute gift like that . I still remember when a patient’s mother gave me a small Christmas gift. It’s so nice to be appreciated! Way to think ahead!
What a sweet idea. I’m sure that they will love it.
Oh Jess, you’re the sweetest. Now come on out little lady, we all want to meet you!!
What a lovely idea. The midwife I had with my third baby was absolutely brilliant, and was a key to a positive final birthing experience for us. She was also retiring – I wish I’d had something to give her.
You are so thoughtful!! Very cute idea there are always a few nurses that seem to go the extra mile to make you comfortable and it would be nice to give them a little extra thank you.
I wish I would have done something like that for my nurses, they were the best! I guess there’s always next time! Thanks for the great idea!
What a great idea, I wish I had thought of this. Are you getting nervous about labor? I know you’ve already done it a couple times but I still got a little scared the weeks leading up. In the end I had nothing to worry about.
That is so sweet!
Such a thoughtful gift and idea. Especially after how much they help us through everything, I love it!
This is brilliant! I always have the most amazing nurses! I think I am totally stealing this idea.
Let’s be honest, they do most of the work! haha Hours of labor for the OB to come in for 5 minutes to deliver and welcome baby. At least, that’s my experience. 😛
I just had a baby a month ago and I took a candy jar. I was pleased by how appreciative they were. I actually think it made a difference in the quality of care I received:)
I made fresh cookies when I was in early labor and the nurses loved them and all commented on it. We also lucked into awesome nurses our entire stay.
I love them! If you don’t mind, how many did you make? The first time around, I used the Paper Baby Shoe template from CuteAsAFox to make 3 dozen for our visitors and nurses. We filled it with B&BW hand sanitizer and Japanese candies. This time around, we don’t plan on welcoming visitors, but I would like to do something for the wonderful nurses. I seem to blank out when I try to remember that whole experience…I’m pretty sure every person in scrubs that walked in was different from any previous.
What a great idea!
I love this idea! I have had some nurses I would have loved to give something to… and a few nurses I would have withheld my gifts from. 😉 Like the nurse who got annoyed because I didn’t want to expose every part of myself to everyone around all the time……
that is such a nice idea jess!! super thoughtful. I’m hoping your giving birth right now! 🙂

Oh my goodness – I love everything about this post. I am definitely going to do a nurse gift as well – luckily this will be a planned c-section so I know when I’ll need to have them ready by! I also love the letterpress machine – would be interested to know if you end up being really happy with it!
I’m a labor and delivery nurse, and I think any of the nurses I work with, myself included, would feel blessed to receive such a wonderful gift! When I had my daughter, I brought boxes of chocolate, one for each shift, and left them at the nurses station for everyone to enjoy. You are so sweet to think of your nurses!
That is great! Yes, I plan on making or having something again for baby #2 in March. I had purchased 2 large boxes of chocolates – one for delivery and one for post-delivery for all the nurses. I was so worried that I kept telling my husband to make sure to give to the nurses as I was fighting sleep when we went in to induce. Everyone enjoyed them and made sure to stop by to say thanks. I was happy to make them smile.
cool
I lOVE this idea. I just gave birth last week and there was one or two nurses that I would have liked to thank in this way. Well….maybe with the next baby! thanks for posting.
Great Idea!!! I think these would make cute teacher gifts as well!
Your blog has always attracted me and this particular post left me speechless. It is one of the best pieces of writing I have seen. Good job.
I simply cannot determine how one would proceed in determining the succession of generation over time.Blood Potency in Requiem increases by a point for every fifty years of unlife.
Love the idea!! How many did you make? Did you Just make for labor nurses or postpartum too?

How many do you recommend making?
I made 5, I think…but I was there for a LONG time and I wish I’d had a few more because of shift changes. Then again, I only gave them to my outstanding nurses. 🙂
Such a lovely idea. My mum gave chocolates to the nurses when she left hospital to show her appreciation. But this little gift bag is lovely. I’ll link to this page from my site.
