ย I’ve been working on another sew along project…the first go-round was an utter failure-luckily an easy fix though. I’m not sure when I’ll get that done. Would anyone even be interested in doing that before the holidays, or would after them be better?
and speaking of sew alongs-check out this UBER cute Sadie shirt my BFF Cassy made-isn’t it adorable!? I am soo in love with the fabric combo-and she made the bottom portion gathered all the way around. love it! She said she had extra of the plaid if I wanted it so I plan on taking it off her hands. ๐Ÿ˜‰
ย
sooo…It feels like my plate has been stacking up lately…with projects, yes… (of course) but also with things I want to and should be doing. Like working on my patience. Sadie has been ERRRR AHHH lately. (that’s me screaming in frustration) She’s testing her boundaries-learning to kick and hit as well, and today she bit me on the leg! WHA?
It’s been swell. I have to laugh to keep from crying when dealing with her. (or swatting her on the bum)
And baby. Last night I got about 3 hours of sleep…due to one little miss who forgot that night times are for sleeping! (she did have some gas, but still! gas drops should fix anything, I think)
This is going to be a random post, I can feel it in me bones.
Christmas shopping is in full swing round these parts. I’m (gasp!) not making many presents this year. Just a few. I wore myself out making the kitchen and blocks last year and didn’t get to enjoy the last few weeks before the big day. Not going to make that mistake this year! I want to enjoy Christmas-time! Superwoman-I am not. I surrender the cape.
So, I guess I’m a little lackluster today. Probably the 3 hours of sleep talking. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Feeling a bit overwhelmed is all. Mostly with kid/life stuff.ย
I want to thank you all for stopping by my little slice of ye ‘ol internet. I appreciate all your comments-even if I don’t always respond. (I try to, but you know life…)
I also wanted to see what you like about my blog-what you’d like to see more of, less of, etc…More recipes? I have a few but haven’t gotten around to posting them. I can’t promise to stop sewing dress ups though, so don’t ask it of me! haha.ย
I have been meaning to take pictures of the kitchen and living room to show you-I’ve been sprucing those up lately too. ๐Ÿ˜€ which reminds me….
…We got a new lamp in our master and I. love. it. Ignore the rest of the dresser, please…but helllo gorgeous.

So that’s where my mind’s at these days. A little bit frazzled but still working.

Comments

  1. Love your friend’s Sadie Shirt! It’s adorable. I’d LOVE another sew-along, but not sure with the holidays if I could do it. My vote is for after, but if you do it before, I’m pretty sure I’d still participate:)

  2. I’m impressed with just the amount of blogging you’re able to get done with two little girls. I know that one keeps me busy enough, and all your sewing and blogging is definitely superhero-like.

Honestly, I come for the tutorials, and I appreciate the fact that you share so much and for free. I love the Sadie Shirt (and sewalong!) and the Ice Cream Dress, and well, just about everything else. I understand that it’s hard to keep a crazy pace with tutorials, so keep ’em coming when you can, and when you can’t, I’ll still be hear reading about your little stinkers. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Yes please!!!! I want another sew-along, I had so much fun with the Sadie shirt, I can’t wait for the next one…and you can send it my way right about now if you want hehe…can’t wait to see what it is!!!!

  4. 1. Non-sleeping babies are HARD.
    2. I love all of your tutorials, but I look forward to basically anything you post. ๐Ÿ™‚
    3. Love that little Sadie shirt.
    4. Ignore the rest of the dresser? I love it!

  5. I love the Modern Meadow line, and have a bunch in the blues and browns as my “boy stash” but have been increasingly loving the pinky girl shades…this shirt knocks me out, may have to go online shopping…..

AS for the rest….I love yoru mussings, you mind seems to work much like mine! Good call on the Christmas thing….I think I have bitten off more than I can chew. Often I am all optimistic at this point of November, then cursing myself and running to the store to buy last minute presents late-December to make up for the ones i didn’t get to! This year, what is not done by end of November will be abandoned, and December will be only for wrapping, baking and enjoying!

    I’m done rambling now.

  6. You know I think you are AH mazing…no matter what! I hear ya about having a full plate and I want to remind you to only put the stuff on your plate you LOVE.

You LOVE sewing and we LOVE seeing what you sew. You LOVE your family and we love seeing your family. You LOVE your home and we love seeing your home. AND hey if you LOVE cooking, we would LOVE seeing more recipes…

JUST remember blogging friend, when you stop loving all the projects and they are more stress than fun…that is when it is okay to take a step back and pause.

We will still be here. We will still LOVE you, even if you take a couple days off and love on those little girls and take a nap or something.

OH and I hear you about CHRISTMAS, I did that last year too.

    Now go take a nap!!!

  7. more recipes, please! I cook a lot of your recipes and have loved them ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. More Recipes would be great!

  9. Love that Sadie shirt with the gathered bottom!

Sorry about the tantrums and nonsleeping. Everything is harder when you don’t get a decent rest each night. (“reverse cycling ends tonight”- did you see “The Office”?)

If your next sew along is already done (ie no more work for you), I’d be interested. Do we already know what it is? Will it be a great present to give? (or keep ha)

    I LOVE your new lamp!!

  10. Aw, thinking of you. Bratty stages are HARD. Nicole went through such a horrible day a few weeks ago that I just locked the doors, laid down in my bed, and ignored her. Her response to that was to lay on top of me and screech in my ear (did I mention it was a Horrible day? I think I missed the capital letter the first time…) but I kept my eyes closed and continued to ignore her, and eventually she rolled off of me… and then passed out asleep beside me. HALLELUJAH. Bless her little heart.
Couple days later, she’s suddenly angelic beyond belief.
I think small children are designed to challenge one’s sanity.

  11. I love the new lamp and love your blog you are honest and very creative. I love seeing pictures you and the family! I would love to try more of your yummy recipes;)

  12. Yeah, yeah, yeah! More Recipes! I need new ideas!!! mmmm!! Sorry about the kiddos giving you a hard time! No fun! Is it weird that I want that though? haha We’ll see how I feel when I get it! I wish we could go christmas shopping together and stuff! That would be fun! It is a little bit more stressful this year though! But still fun!

  13. I love hearing that I am not the only one with troubles. Or the only one whose kids can drive her nuts! I jsut discovered your blog, Love it!
A sew along would be super fun, pretty sure I would do it if it was before or after all the holidays.
    Good luck, hang in there!

  14. Sorry you’ve been having kiddo craziness. Sometimes I just go nuts, but now it seems to be getting a little better (knock on wood). I went through many a sleepless night – Emily was the worst – she would be up ever hour all night, I would cry. Good for you on the Christmas gifts, I think I’m going to try to do as much online gift shopping as possible! Yay for that. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’m seriously going to sew up a sadie shirt or two, really!!!

  15. wow.. you and cassy make sewing look so fun! i love to sew, but need to branch off of the basic blankets and quilts!

love your blog! i have a request!!! wondering if you can show me how to make a “superhero” cape with the superman logo on the back. hoping it’s an easy tutorial… and maybe blog it!

    thanks

  16. Jess, all I have to say is: Girrrrrl, you are a superhero.

Ok, well, a bit more. You do SO much. I can tell you love your projects and need them to stay sane. Maybe you can try wearing three capes, Wonder Woman, Super Woman, and Spider Woman. That should give you some eagle powers.

Not to boast, but my three year old still does not sleep through the night. She started not sleeping the night of her birth. I can count on one hand the number of nights she slept without a peep. On average she gets up screaming bloody murder 6 times. Four is a good night, 14 it terrible. I feel you pain! Maybe little Miss is teething. The teething tablets are ah-mazing.

  17. I know the little sleep thing with my baby. I am always up about half the night and she is about 10 months old! I don’t don’t see how you get all your sewing done.I am always seem to run short on time in day. (I have 4 kidos)Hope you get some rest soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I love the Sadie shirt your friend made! Where did she find the fabric?

  18. I love that shirt! Wow! Your friend is awesome! haha! Sorry you’ve gotta deal with the terrible 2’s and the baby at the same time. No fun ๐Ÿ™ When Rayne is being a stinker I always think, “Nephi said, ‘And it came to pass’ not ‘it came to stay.'” Call me if you wanna vent! Or shop! Or do both!!

  19. I love your blog! I’ve got two little girls of my own (2.5 years and 10 months), so I know just how crazy things can get! I’m amazed that you manage to post as often as you do with two little monsters at home ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the tutorials you post because they inspire me to start a project!

  20. I can’t believe how much sewing you get done with 2 kids. My daughter is just over 2 and I have my hands full. I’m starting to wean her from the spoiling and all-day mommy-time. Hopefully, this will leave me more time to sew her some clothes. I just love the stuff you make Sadie and it gives me sooo many ideas for Charley.

If you did another sew-along after Christmas, I’d definitely participate.

  21. I love your lamp, too. GORGEOUS!
