A good friend of mine had a darling baby girl a few months back, and I totally forgot to share what I made her! Just some simple gifts-appliqued onesies, a blanket, and a onesie/skirt combo. I used some new dies for my Go Baby cutter, and they were perfect for this type of project. Easy and quick...the bread and butter of us crafters, eh?
The elephant was a little plain so I spruced her up with a floppy fabric ear and button eye!
It was so easy you could probably do it with one hand tied behind your back....ok alright so that wouldn't work...hopping on one foot? Whatever physical obstacle you choose...it's still easy.
1. First I made an ear pattern to fit my elephant-you could print one out to trace, or try drawing your own! Then cut two pieces, and sew around the curved edge, leaving the flat edge open.
2. Clip curves if needed and turn right sides out and press with your iron.
3. Turn in the flat raw edges and press...then sew in place along the flat edge. Floppy elephant ear? Check.
The rest were pretty simple, just added some felt pieces and sewed them down around the edges after ironing them on.
She also asked if I would make her a blanket, and had some fabric already picked out, isn't it adorable? Love that floral. Just a simple layered flannel blanket, with two rows of pink and green stitching around the outside...different colors just for fun. And cause I ran out of pink thread. ;)
Their family loves dogs so I had to use this fat quarter I'd had sitting around for about a year-I love the pink and aqua with the little brown and white pup! Add some coordinating fabric, ric rac, and eyelet trim to a onesie, and I had myself an outfit I didn't want to part with. ;) Luckily at the time I didn't know what gender I was having, hehe!
Have you made any baby stuff lately? For yourself or a friend/family member?
