simple felt garland

If you’re like me and can’t stop making Christmas decor even though the big day is around the corner, than this is for you! Cause, it literally takes hardly any time. But looks super cute!

Cut a bunch of circles from your felt. To cut out nice circles-I trace my circle on the papery side of freezer paper, iron it to the felt, then cut them out and peel off the paper. It gives a nice clean edge!

I chose traditional colors, but it would be so cute in any color combo! I also used about twice as much felt as shown in the pic. I get my felt here. Mostly. I did grab the red and white from Joann’s-they have a basic selection of wool felt blends…but the “good” colors I get on that website.

Then, sew together….wow hard to justify this being a tutorial…so easy!

Then, decorate something! I decided to bring a little Christmas cheer to our  master bedroom by hanging it over the mirror.

I also stuck some scrapbook paper in a frame, and taped this little ornament up like so, removing the glass, of course…and wha-la! a little Christmas cheer. :D

  2. I love that little ornament on the frame!! It’s all cute!

  3. I have a new-found appreciation for felt. I used to be such a snob about it–it’s not really “fabric” it’s in with the kids’ stuff, ya know? But then I started doing stuff with it and I’m hooked and embarrassed about being such a felt snoot.
I love the garland colors–I’ve only been able to find lime green and hunter green–I love the olivey green you’ve got :)

  4. How cute, and so fast! :)

  12. Love the colors you chose! I made two all red ones and an all green one. It’s kind of bright but perfect for our living/family/music/tv room. :)

I was wondering if you’d like to be featured on my blog? I’m expecting baby #2 next week and thought it would be a good idea to have some guest bloggers while I take a break. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks!

  15. Thank you so much for sharing where you get your felt from. I’m getting ready to start making felt food and I didn’t know what or where is the best way to go about buying it. Also I’ve been meaning to ask you where you got the stand for Sadie that you use in the kitchen? I want one for my daughter and I keep searching for your blog post on it and I can’t find it. My daughter keeps standing on a step stool and it’s freaking me out!!

  19. I had to laugh when I saw this cause I made a similar garland last week for my girls’ playroom. I used the same three colors but made my circles in four different sizes and added a few felt gingerbread men, too.

I love the framed ornament. Great idea!

  25. That is so cute! I made one out of paper maps for my sister’s going away party when she joined the Peace Corps and everyone really liked it. I never thought to use felt! I am totally going to make one this weekend so I have it in time for my cookie exchange party next week! Thanks for the idea!
