snow white lulu dress & boys wallet

Snow White Lulu dress || craftiness is not optional

I just got back from a whirlwind trip up to visit Kristin in Portland!

(if you were following along on Instagram you got a sneak peek of a combined photo shoot we did with the girls!! prepare for cuteness!)

We had so much fun-and ate way too much. (WORTH IT) We happened to time our visit with her daughter’s birthday party and so I sewed up a little lulu dress for her!

I knew her and Sadie are almost the exact same size so I sewed up a 4T which fit great on her!

(It made my DAY to see her running around making raccoon soup in it with Sadie! those two girls are cut from the same cloth)

I had planned on some different fabric at first, but then this Heather Ross snow white fabric just begged to become a lulu.

I paired it with some Amy Butler orange dots for the pockets-so fun to add a punch of color or accent fabric there!

and Snow got her own showcase pocket! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think it went over well with the birthday girl!

I had some time so I also whipped up a quick boys wallet using my pal Anna’s tutorial. It was REALLY quick to sew up! I love how easily it came together.

I used some yarn-dyed Essex linen in black for the outside…knowing how much Kristin loves it I figured it would be a safe bet ๐Ÿ˜‰

I added some leather and grommets to the front like she suggests-such a cool way to add some interest.

for the little card pockets, I used this car fabric-I looove the colors and fun vintage feel of it.

and for the lining, a scrap of Joel Dewberry!

I like that you can see the lining from the front through the grommets.

I’m sure that’s the first thing he noticed.

ha.

He did seem to like his little wallet and tried to pay for things with it by slapping it on the counter-SO cute!

  1. Awe…love the dress! So darling.
    Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. I love the contrasting pockets! And that wallet is totally cool. =)

  3. She loves the dress, he loves the wallet – he’s definitely into things like tools and things that make him seem like a ‘grown up’ these days, so you nailed it! And I noticed the contrast fabric showing through the rivets, even if he didn’t! Haha. The dress is adooooorable on her and so comfy too, I’m sure she’ll choose it to wear all the time! Thank you so much, you most generous gifter you! Love that you cut into your special Heather Ross and I love the pockets too!!!

I can’t wait to see all your future “I got this fabric in Portland” posts, I’m sure there will be many. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • There will be MANY…I’m washing it right now and have a few ideas and pairings already! If only there were more hours in the day!
