bandanas to catch the drool

So. This kid, Ava. She is constantly….and I mean CONstantly, drooling. My other girls, sure they drooled when they were about to get teeth, and maybe Ava is-but she is always chewing on her hands, too…which just makes it worse! We were going through our bibs way too quickly, and they were not nearly thick enough to keep her dry.

Enter: the amazing bandana drool catcher. I found this tutorial from the Purl Bee, and knew it was perfect! It was simple to make, and had at least 4 layers of fabric that spit had to soak through before it could get to her shirt. Sold. I whipped up one quickly to see how the sizing was (just right, but some of my others are smaller than the tutorial specifies, mostly because of the size scraps I had on hand.) I made this one above from some corduroy and gorgeous scallop material that my good friend Kristin sent over, and I love it! It’s my fave, probably because it’s not one of my normal go-to color combinations. (ie, see below) It’s always fun to shake things up a bit!

  3. She is so adorable, and fabrics are gorgeous as always too! Thank goodness our son isn’t half as slimy as our daughter was. I remember her having drool down to her belly button 2 seconds after she got dressed. It was like having a mini St. Bernard! lol

  4. She is adorable! Ansley was always wet and went through like ten bibs a day. Bandanas are a fun idea! Love the fabrics.

  5. Super cute! My little guy is always drooling too. He’s 5.5 months and goes through a minimum of 3 bibs a day. These are definitely a great, and very fashionable, alternative. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. your color scheme always makes me happy. I find it amazing that you gravitate so strongly to the most peaceful colors. I sometimes feel like my color selection is schizophrenic.

  7. Such a great idea! I’ve never heard of baby bandanas! So much more hip than a bib!

  8. So cute, she looks adorable ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Aww, she is so cute! My babies were pretty drooly too… but for the most part I just tucked a burp cloth under their chins. Bandanas are a fun idea. =)

  10. Adorable, and these must be a new trend because I’ve seen them in a few places now. This gives me a great idea for a gift for a friend of mine that is expecting in a few months, thank you!

  11. Haha! What was I thinking sending you purple and blue and green fabric?! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Love these – so much better than a bib, I think. And that little Ava is the most adorable little drooler I ever saw!

  12. I love this! And have a few friends with babies coming soon, and showers to attend…. this is so much cuter than the generic bibs and burp cloths I make for gifts. This may be my new go-to baby gift!
    Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. What a great idea and I love the fabric. Oh my, your baby is cute as a button!
