I decided the other week to make new church bags for the girls. New year, new bags, right? Just go along with it…I really just wanted an excuse to use this gorgeous Echino fabric! A fat quarter was just enough to make these kid sized totes. (not including the lining of course) I also got a huge kick out of using such brightly colored fabrics….I don’t know why really….it’s unexplainable. They just made me so happy! Fabric can do that to a girl.
FYI, the bottom bag is made with this fabric on the outside, and this fabric on the inside. The top bag is made with this fabric on the outside, and this fabric on the inside (in turquoise).
I used my own tote bag tutorial (one of my firsts, so sorry about the pictures and over the top cheesiness), and scaled it down so it would fit a few coloring books, etc.
I had just enough left over from the large floral to make a quick pouch for the girls markers. (those fancy ones that only color on certain paper. Bless whoever invented those!)
The other bag got a pouch for crayons, made from this fabric.
Now that a tiny bit of my life has been made cuter and more organized…I’m onto the next project!
Bright fabric makes me happy too – I was really worried when I started sewing a dress for my little girl in bright pink that it was too over-the-top, but when it was finished, it just made me happy – I need to trust the bright fabrics! (You can see the dress here… http://www.cookcleancraft.com/2013/01/ripples-and-ruffles-and-spots-dress.html)
Too cute! Love the colors and fabrics!
Have a fabulous day!

Love those little marker bags!
“They just made me so happy! Fabric can do that to a girl.”
Truer words were never spoken! Those fabrics are so gorgeous, I don’t even own them, and they are making me happy. Now if only the same could be said for our husbands.
I just finished reorganizing my fabric and was told I have WAAAY too much. Probably shouldn’t tell him that fabric.com is having a sale…;D
Cute! Olivia got a new church bag at the beginning of the year too, but maybe I’ll have to add a crayon pouch too now. Great idea!
I have been wanting to sew the kids some church bags. We got switched to 9am this year and getting out the door totally prepared for sacrament with two tiny kids is so hard!
These are so cute! Lucky girls x
I still don’t understand how you find the time! Love bags like this–my girls had some (extreme version) that I created years ago and was going to manufacture. However, with the economic downturn and life changes I do Etsy instead now–ahh well–all that happens is meant to! I hope you and your lovely brood of girls (and hubby) are all healthy and doing well!
What cute little bags . I love the little marker cases too!

Agree that fabric makes a girl happy! In fact this week I asked if it was healthy to get so excited over fabric. The response I was given was yes, unless you work at a fabric store. 🙂
