Happy Halloween from a bunch of geeks!

Star Wars geeks, that is. Well, our family costume theme started when a friend lent me an Ewok costume, then it all kind of came together in the last week. Sadie LOVED being Princess Leia, and everyone seemed to recognize her easily, which she liked. We had our church trunk or treat (handing out candy from the back of cars in the parking lot, safe for kids and fun cause you know lots of people there!) Saturday, so we got all dressed up for that. Call it a dry run if you will, for Halloween night.

I told you about how I made her costume here, but instead of the yarn bun headband, I did her hair in sock buns. Using lots of hairspray and teasing her hair a bit helped it stay in, though by the end of the night you could see patches of sock through her hair, lol. She has been so into getting her hair done lately!

Charlotte wore the aforementioned Ewok costume, which she looked flipping cute in. She was not the biggest fan of the hoodie, but she wore it for pictures like a champ.

Rory was Anakin Skywalker before he turned into Darth Vader. He was NOT a sushi chef, though he insisted he looked like one. I made his costume the day before, well, at least I made the wrap thing, and the two belt thingies. *It’s totally legit, because I copied the movie costume completely.

*sarcasm font

It was really thrown together, but I think he looks like a Jedi and not a sushi chef. Back me up, folks! haha.ย

I loved my costume this year, Han Solo is one of my favorite movie characters of all time! I got most of my outfit at the thrift store-vest, shirt, and belt at least. Boots from Old Navy, pants from my sis, red duct tape from Target. You can’t tell very much, but I sewed on felt pockets to the vest, which I turned inside out. (it has some green plaid wool on the outside, lol!)ย  I’ll have to get a better pic, cause it looked cool! I didn’t get a blaster or holster because there was a “no weapons” allowed rule, which we broke because Rory had his light saber. I also heard (the morning of) that cross-dressing was also not allowed, so we totally broke two rules. Such a rebel! I guess I had the Han Solo attitude. (though I was prepared to say I was Henrietta Solo, Han Solo’s twin sister)

I decorated our car really simply…I cut out some jagged teeth from cardstock and taped them on the bottom and top of the back door. Yargh! Car monster. hehe. Easy and fun. (and crooked, but let’s pretend it’s not) I got the idea here, via Pinterest.

  14. I love the costumes, and the family theme concept is awesome! While I understand the no weapon rule, the no cross-dressing rule is pretty silly, in my opinion, and I’m glad you broke it, including because you made a terrific Han Solo! Thanks for sharing!
And Rory definitely doesn’t look like a sushi chef!

  15. Great costumes! Definitely a Jedi. ๐Ÿ™‚ My kids are dressing up as Star Wars characters this year also.

  16. I ADORE all of your costumes! We, too, are having a Star Wars themed Halloween at our house…I just posted photos of our Ewok yesterday…

  18. Amazing! You did a great job, and sushi chef cracks me up… he’d have to trade the light saber though, so people will totally think jedi not sushi chef.

  20. Love it!!!!

  21. Jess, I love your costumes, they are all DARLING! But, I have to say your little Ewok is THE CUTEST I have ever seen, I mean, her little chubby cheeks, and that darling smile, I could eat her!!!! Happy Halloween!

  22. Jess

That is the cutest Ewok I’ve ever seen! Your costumes are so cool. Great job. – gelia

  23. Love your costumes, Jess. Also, I love that you decorated your trunk with big teeth. That was my exact same plan with our Trunk-or-Treat this past Friday, but I was too lazy to actually do it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. The theme is great and all the costumes are awesome:)

  25. Fantastic looking costumes! LOVE the ewok!

  26. You guys rock! I love all the costumes, but your little Ewok is soooo cute! I am also glad to know that my husband and I are not the only adults that still dress up for Halloween. :0)

  27. oh my goodness! what a fun family! Your little ewok steals the show though. She’s so flipping cute!
And I’m pretty sure your costume was not what they had in mind when making a no cross dressing rule. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Who could ever be against Harrison Ford?!

  28. Love your costumes! It’s great that your whole family dresses up for one theme. Happy Halloween!

  29. I love the family Star Wars theme! And good choice with the sock buns, she looks adorable! Thanks to you I have been practicing the use of sock buns in my own hair, with little success unfortunately. I think my hair is just too short still. Anyway, I just recently started reading your blog but I really enjoy it! You remind me a lot of myself. I look forward to many more posts of yours and hope you have a wonderful Halloween!! ๐Ÿ™‚
