check out my new baby

haha. gotcha! Not THAT new baby. Rory finally made good on his Mother’s Day promise to buy me a serger. Yahoo! (Although he did get his Father’s Day present-a jigsaw-before I got my Mother’s Day present….hmmm….)

So, I am now the proud new owner of a Brother serger. Well, it’s not exactly HERE yet, but will be soon. Hopefully I have some time to figure it out and use it a bit before the real baby comes. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Does anyone have any serger advice? On this model in particular, perhaps? I’ve used them before, my mom has one, but I’ve never threaded one. I’ll have to convince her to show me how to use it. Although Rory’s pretty good with machines, so maybe I’ll make him read/memorize the manual as well. You don’t mind, right hun?

Thanks Rory, you’re the best. ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. You are a tease! That was so not funny. But, congrats on the serger. I would love to have one.

  2. Congrats! I have that serger and love it. Really easy to use. Have fun with it! Oh, I recently posted about how to ruffle using the serger and plan to post more about my serger experiments if that helps you any.

  3. I have the exact same serger and it’s awesome. it’s not too hard to figure out. Just use the instruction manual and it’ll get you through when you need to thread it.

  4. I also have the same one and I love it! It’s super user-friendly and a breeze to thread, don’t be intimidated!

  5. Pretty but terrifying all at the same time. I wouldn’t know where to start with one of those. x.

  6. Congrats! I keep finding projects that would be SO much easier with a serger. Totally am envying you right now ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have fun with it and let us know how it goes!

  7. I’m so jealous!!! I keep asking for one, but I have yet to get one!!!

  8. I have never used one so I am looking forward to seeing all your beautiful projects and tutorials;) Congrats, and have fun stocking the UPS guy;)

  9. Congrats! Sergers are the best! You will have so much fun, don’t be intimidated and just be ready to spend some extra time threading it. The giant tweazers are my best friend when threading my serger-use them! Oh, and make sure Rory and his new jigsaw have seen knock-offwood. Oh, the projects to do…

  10. Aaaah!!! Yay! I just took a serger class on Friday and I’m working on a little tips and tricks post pretty soon! I made a skirt yesterday with my serger- not even 5 minutes start to finish! AMAZING!

Now… if only my husband would surprise me with a fancy camera ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. ha ha! That was a good trick! Nice new baby. You will love it. Holy 159 comments on your giveaway! Geeze, I bet that makes you feel loved and followed. You ARE pretty funny and very awesome.

  12. mine is on its way as well, so make sure to post any tips and I will do the same!

  13. Haha that is what I got for mothers day too! Only a singer brand. It came threaded and I made my husband figure out how to rethread it. He told me the next time I am close to running out tie a very small knot with the old thread onto the new one and run it through when there isn’t fabric in the machine. Does that make any sense?? That way you don’t have to rethread it the hard way!

  14. When i got my first over locker my husband watched the video (not even a DVD, that long ago) & is my re-threading expert. Good luck, love Posie

  15. Oh how exciting!

  16. I have that same serger and I LOVE it!

  17. I have the same serger and LOVE it – I just keep the booklet in my drawer for quick and easy reference. And I second the comment about tying the knot and running it through. That’s a great solution until you get up your confidence to do it on your own – it’s not that hard. You can do it!!
