little clippie tutorial

Here’s how to make some super easy, fast, and cute clippies for your little girl…or boy if he likes to play dress up. (I don’t judge…Rory has worn clippies in his hair before…placed by Sadie of course. Encouraged by me. hehe. I’m in trouble now…)

You’ll need:
hot glue gun
clips (I got a 12 pack at the dollar store)
ribbon wide enough to cover the clip
embellishments (flowers, brads, buttons, etc!)
Lighter/fray check

First, measure out how much ribbon you’ll need to cover your clip. I usually leave the bottom prong free of ribbon so it holds better to that slippery, fine toddler hair. Then, heat seal your ribbon ends with a lighter (IF it’s flammable: use fray check, don’t blow yourself up over a clip)

Dab a little hot glue on the underside of the clip like so and press your ribbon end on.

Then on the top as well.

Press it on nice and firmly…you will get burned a little…probably.

Pull the bottom prong thingy out of the way gently (don’t bend it out of shape), and apply more hot glue, and fold over the rest of the ribbon under the clip.

like so!

tada! you’re done. You could leave it plain or…

add a little sparkle and flower to jazz it up.

Now…repeat until you have bows coming out of the wazoo. (what is a wazoo, by the way?)

I made this little set to go with Sadie’s Easter dress….this is the fabric…I just need to decide what I want it to look like. Wish me luck!

***If you have used any of my tutorials, I’d love if you’d add a quick pic to my flicker group! Thanks!***
