Easy Carrot Recipe

orange and green felt
matching thread
poly fil
sewing machine (or a hand sewing needle)

cut orange and green felt into carrot and carrot top shapes. (sorry about the green felt color on this one…not too appetizing, eh?)

sew around carrot top with green thread.

sew around orange pieces with orange thread…

leaving the top of the carrot open. stuff with poly fil, making sure there is room for the carrot top to fit.

insert carrot top and sew closed. trim threads and you’re done!

from your sewing machine to your dinner table in no time flat!

  1. Afton was sitting on my lap as I opened your blog and she saw the carrots and said “oh cute”. I think she wishes her mommy was as crafty!

I have been making hair clips though. Afton won’t wear them but I think I might! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. super cute jess! I grew up eating off of those same exact plates!

  3. Those carrots look super cool. I think I will add these to my still increasing list of felt food to make for me… oh, I mean the kids of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I have those same green flower Corelle plates from my Mom from the 70’s!

  5. Cute! I still have yet to dive into making felt food (I think I would become addicted and never do housework again…) but I did make a wonky star ‘taggie’ for my little one!

  6. Very cute and so simple, maybe not the cutting out part though.

  7. Love it! Just featured this post on my website. Thanks for the great posts.

  8. so cute! thanks for the idea! ๐Ÿ™‚ lisa

  9. I agree with the other comments: cute carrots sewn from felt! The bright orange with olive green tops can be used anytime for playtime for kids. Add a few more veggies and fruits… sewn simply and they’ll fill a basket. THANKS for sharing this simple tutorial. Sarah Helene in Minneapolis

    Love! Thanks for sharing!

What kind of felt do you use when making felt food (or other felt crafts)? Is there one that is best and is more durable?
