bunting tutorial and giveaway

i just love me a good bunting. don’t you? if you don’t, well, this isn’t quite the tutorial for you. but if you do, stick around! i’m gonna show you how to make one!

i am making an autumn one. (can’t you tell)ย

Click below for more!

You’ll need:

heat n bond, fabric, interfacing, bias tape, or quilt binding, pinking shears, and a rotary cutter sure is handy but not necessary.

first, make your triangle pattern, i cut mine out of cardstock. of course it can be as large or small as you like! my triangle was 6 inches across the top, and 6.5 inches down each side.

cut out your fabric and interfacing! cut out two pieces for each bunt (?), for this particular bunting there are 6 letters, so i cut out four per fabric since i had 3 fabrics picked out.

adhere interfacing according to the directions.

so this is what you should have! don’t worry if the interfacing hangs off the side because you can’t cut straight. it will all come off later!

now trace your letters on the heat n bond BACKWARDS please. i used some chipboard letters from my sadly neglected scrapbook stash. apply to your fabric. (back side if there is one)

PAINSTAKINGLY cut out your letters. just kidding. it doesn’t take long, maybe 5 minutes. sharp little scissors are great for this!

adhere to your fabric triangles..

..then pin to the coordinating back. or mix it up! my slight ocd tendencies would not let me.

sew about 1/2 inch around the sides.

trim with the pinking shears..

then lay it out on your trim, folding it over and pinning it down where you like it.

sew. i fold over the trim edges and sew them down. easy peasy!

enjoy!

speaking of enjoying, how would you like to win this little bunting?

good, i’m glad you said yes, cause this is my september giveaway! yess.

  43. My favorite thing about Autumn ( besides the glorious colors) is that I once had a student named Autumn who introduced me to HER favorite Autumn treat: popcorn soup! Make a yummy tomato soup ( homemade is best). Toss fresh salty popcorn into the soup like croutons. Only put in as much as you can eat quickly because soggy popcorn is not as yummy as crunchy popcorn. Keep the popcorn handy and toss it in as you eat the soup! Delish. ( I really want to win the banner!)

  46. By the way, I love walking when autumn leaves are falling, I love spring too! All the flowers and colors!

  47. I love Autumn, because it reminds me always of my “Mom” she loved the smell of the crisp air,& the smells of neighbor folks when they cleaned & raked their leaves & burned them, she really loved that smell (fresh burnt leaves,so “Autumn”like),she felt “Fall” was by far the prettiest of the 4 seasons, just because there was & is so much color “everywhere” its the intense explosion of the firey, reds, golds, browns, yellows, greens, oranges, its just so “Wow” (heart popping, eye cathching & exhilrating), its almost a
symphony with splashes of color, she really loved Fall.
So each yr when fall arrives I make a special time to look up and tell her “I” am remembering & enjoying for her”( I also let her know that we all love & miss her always)I know she looks down & smiles..Thats what EVERY Autumn is to me!
    Tess :}
