I made this dress when Iย  really should have been making other things…like my other two Easter dresses…but once I get a bee in my bonnet about something-it just takes over. So I let myself sew up another Sally dress, this time for the Sadester, since she has been growing out of church dresses left and right. I sewed this one up in a 4T bodice, and size 5 skirt length and pockets, which worked perfectly. It hits her just below the knees, which is where I like it to, at least when it’s fresh off the sewing machine!

I’m not a liar, she’s just leaning backwards a little….

See? just below the knee. I didn’t mislead you. Iย  know, you were so worried I was pulling your leg.

Anywho-the fabric! the main fabric is Joel Dewberry from the Heirloom line, from my sponsor, Lily Bella Fabrics. the coordinating print is from the same designer, but from the Modern Meadow line.

I debated far too long on whether or not to put on the pockets, or to have them match, but I’m glad I did them the way I did..they add a nice pop and break up that floral.

Hopefully this can last her into the fall-the colors can be springy or fall-ish. amiright?

  1. I too love this dress, so fast and easy to sew up! The last one I made with cotton from my grandma’s stash and edged the pockets with crocheted lace handmade by HER mom. Unfortunately (but fortunately!) it’s a favorite (hello pockets!) and is worn so much that the pockets are tearing. I’ll be sewing up a few more of these as it warms up!
