the girls' Christmas dresses
So here are the girls Christmas dresses this year! I'm a little late showing you all, but better late than never! I went with a blue and red theme after consulting with my Instagram pals (my username is craftinessisnotoptional if you want to follow me!), and I love how they turned out! A little classic, a little funky, and a little teeny tiny.
Sadie's was the classic dress. A simple bodice (which is NOT crooked in real life, just in this picture haha) made with polka dot fabric, with a wide red sash and tulip sleeves. (which I'm working on a tutorial for!)The fabric for this dress is from my sponsor, Ribbon Retreat, Christmas red and white polka dots, and Betty red solid. I think I keep putting in my tulip sleeves backwards, but I like seeing the piping from the front, so whatevs! Isn't that the point of sewing clothes yourself? So you can do it how you like it? :)
Charlotte's is a bit funky- with the cute reindeer fabric and ruffly sleeves-plus those side ties might be my all time favorite way to dress up a peasant dress! Sorry about the wrinkles though. #keepingitreal I used the Sweet Dress pattern for this one, a 2T size, and lengthened it a bit, and of course, added those sleeves. :)
And last but not least, is Ava's dress-the teeny tiny one! It's so fun to make dresses this tiny......as long as they're sleeveless. ;) I drafted the pattern using a store bought dress, and added some faux piping in the hem and also in between the bodice and skirt. It adds a little fun detail to a very basic dress. The fabric for this dress is called Millie's Closet Main-Floral Boutique Red.
Now how about a pic of the three of them together? They were troopers-taking pics for me on a cold winter morning. (well, cold for California) Miss C loved her "DEER" dress. She seriously freaked when she had to take it off. Sadie too. Ava could have cared less. She's just along for the ride anyways, being the third child, right?
I can't believe I have 3 girls! I love it.
p.s. No matter how nicely I do their hair...10 minutes later they look like ragamuffins.
