scalloped garland tutorial

Hey Howdy Hey….channeling Woody the cowboy today I guess. I don’t know why I say these things sometimes.
Moving on….so I had a bunch of random scraps of fabric leftover from the quilt and other projects, so I decided to make a fun scalloped garland to swankify a wall in the new nursery. Yes, that’s a word…
ย I am so close to being done with the nursery and the final reveal, just need to finish up a few loose ends…so I hope to post about it in the next few weeks!
So here’s how I made it!

I cut out some 5″ circles (you could do any size) with my Go Baby! cutter, then sliced them in half with my rotary cutter and ruler.

Then sew two pieces right sides together, around the curved edge, I kept my seam allowance small, between 1/4″ and 1/8″, mainly so I wouldn’t have to clip the curves.

Turn right side out, and press.

Next I sandwiched the raw edge between some twill tape (bias tape would work too, I just had this in the right color), and pinned it together. Sew along the edge of the tape and you’re done!

Easy peasy!

  9. Cute, fab idea to use the cutter for the circles :o)

  10. Super cute and what a great way to utilize scraps!

  11. Or folded paper circles over ribbon. A dab of glue
will hold them secure! Not as permanent, but oh so easy!

  12. May I ask where you found that amazing fabric used as the background in the fourth picture down? The one with the flowers intertwined with scissors and thread?

  13. Thank you so much for this post. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in Creative Busy Bee Craft Inspirations, under the Page 2 post on Aug. 31, 2012. Thanks again.

  14. Just made this for my daughter’s nursery – thanks so much for posting easy-to-follow tutorials! The Bapron is still my go-to first birthday gift ๐Ÿ™‚
