Sweet baby girl surprise shower

I threw my best friend Cassy a surprise shower last Saturday-and it was a success! She was shocked-and she doesn’t get surprised easily so I have to give kudos to her hubby for not giving it away. (she says usually he’s not good at keeping secrets, hehe) Also to the guests! Anyways, here are some of the details-it was a small shower but it’s still fun to do those little touches!

First: Decor.

I had this thrifted sheet that I pulled all the colors from-lavender, blue, and green. It served as the tablecloth for my island.

I made a paper banner for across the front-nothing fancy just with some paper, my paper cutter, and some scissors, though I did cut the letters out with my Silhouette. (Lobster font)

I cut slits in the top and used ribbon to hang it up…just pinned it to the sheet through the ribbon!

I also had some purple striped knit that I used to cover up our desk and as a tablecloth for the drink area.

I made some tissue puffs and hung them from command hooks, and also punched out a ton of scalloped circles from paper and sewed them together for the little garlands.

I switched out the plates on my wall so they all matched the color scheme, then bought some chrysanthemums and divided them up among some vintage jars, bottles, and vases.

I thrifted these little chalkboards and wrote cute baby sayings on them…but they won’t come off now, so much for reusing them! lol.

I wrote a cute quote on my chalkboard and added a little garland with the leftover circles I had.

The favors were caramels in glassine bags taped closed with some washi tape-easy but still cute. I thought about adding a tag but in the end liked the simplicity.

Food time!

I served mini quiches, fruit kabobs, cheese straws, and spinach penne salad. (which is missing the dressing in the picture above)

I need to try this recipe again before I post it…it could be a lot better I think.

Cheese straw recipe.

Β Spinach and Penne salad recipe. ( I changed it up a bit but mostly the same)

I added some cute little paper punched scallops to the straws for a bit of fun.

I bought some sodas in the color scheme (well would’ve loved to have a lighter blue but they were all out. sad face.) and wrapped some fabric around them, then pinned with some diaper pins.

For dessert I made cupcakes in a jar! Pretty self explanatory, right? Cut a cupcake in half, then layer it with piped frosting. Pretty and easy!

It was pretty low-key but I think we all had a good time!

  1. What a beautiful shower!! There are so many adorable details! I’m planning my daughter’s birthday and I’m going to have to borrow some of your ideas! I love the banner and the poms and the circle garlands… and the cute diapered beverages and the chalkboards… I love it all! Great job! πŸ™‚

  2. low key? It looks like it was a lot of work. Congratulations on such a beautiful shower. I hope your friend enjoyed it.

  3. Thanks for sharing the cuteness. You could repaint the chalkboards with chalkboard paint, but first you might want to carefully try a magic eraser.

  4. How fun! I especially love the sodas with their chic little diapers on.

  5. You did an absolutely beautiful job! Love the colors and… well, everythinig!!!

Maybe you can repaint the chalkboards with more chalkboard paint?

  6. Before you use a new chalkboard it has to be primed – wipe it all over with chalk (a lot!), then wipe that chalk off. That usually solves the “this is never coming off” problem.

But, umm, well, too little, too late for that now! πŸ™‚

  7. Darling shower! You are always so great with details!
