guest post for Ribbon Retreat

Hey guys, check out the new tutorial I did for the Ribbon Retreat blog! I had so much fun making this easy little slip on sundress, and the fabric is making me wish so hard that spring would just get here already!

I guess this will have to do!

  1. Aww, that dress is so cute! I love it. :>

  2. I have been meaning to ask, what shops do you use for your fabrics? I have trouble finding a good shop online that has fabric. We have your normal big box retailers, but not enough small ones here that carry a good amount of lines, so I’m always looking.
    thanks!

  3. Gorgeous!

  4. You always make such cute dresses! I have used your tutorials for some of my projects. Thanks for the inspiration!
I would love for you to share this at my link party

  5. So cute! I love the sleeves and fabric choices!

  6. You need to slow down–I can’t keep up with you and all the dresses that I want to make from your tutorials. I just stayed up until 2:30 am Saturday night/Sunday morning sewing a dress for my daughter (inspired by your Anthro knock off). Because if was so late, rather than do the casing in the dress, I just quickly sewed an elastic tube belt and made an eyelet ribbon flower to clip on. It turned out cute and I finally conquered my fear of sleeves! Thank you!!!

  13. Adorable!!! Love the way you’ve done the shoulders…

  14. The fabric you have chosen is so cute. I love http://www.theribbonretreat.com/Fabric/fly-a-kite.aspx especially and the turqoise polka dots are perfect http://www.theribbonretreat.com/Fabric/fly-a-kite.aspx

  15. So beautiful! love your blog. Kissy.

  16. The sleeves are so cute! Love the polka dots too!!!

  17. I love this! Those sleeves…. oh, the fabric! Just total full of awesome. I was going to use a different one of your tutorials for my daughter’s Easter dress, but now I’m thinking I might use this one!! You are so so talented!

  18. This dress is SPECTACULAR! I am so in love with that fabric! I am a new follower! Can’t wait to snoop around and look at all your beautiful posts! =)

  19. I so love the dresses you make! For this one I love how the wider gathered straps become little sleeves to cut down on sunburn areas ( we’re in Ontario, so only 60 F today, but soon it will be 85 and HOT.) And you can get a nasty burn in those early spring days when you shed the coats…

  20. I so so love your dresses but I think this one is the very very best. Ohhhh – it’s sooooo pretty! I just don’t have enough words to describe its cuteness. Thank you very much – I’m off hunting through my stash!

  22. Your tutorials have truly been a great help, in understanding basics of drafting, for sewing clothes, for my 23 month old daughter. I shall try to post photos as I sew them. The simplicity of designs resulting in such elegant look in the finished garment is also very commendable on your part.I am working on the drafts, and will start stitching soon. Thanks a lot for giving me the courage to sew simple but beautiful clothes for my little one. Keep up the good work.

  23. I’ve fallen in love with this dress! Hoping to make it for my niece for Christmas but the link seems to not be working 🙁

    Thanks for sharing you designs!!!!

  27. Is this tutorial still available? The link seems to be broken. 🙁 But this dress is soooo adorable!

  28. hi, i love the dress and even got the fabric shipped from america to austria..
when i finished the dress and tried to put in on my niece i had quite some difficulties, it was all just
to tight and sewing in the zipper after having finished the project was a too successfull project..
so i would really recommend a zipper .. what experience did you have?
