shirts, redux (plus a chat!)

Sooo. I made this top for Charlotte the other day out of a thrifted tee. (see below for before pic)

I added three little rufflies down the front.

This is the boringest post ever so far. (except for C’s cute mug)

Let’s see if Charlotte can spice it up!

Pouty face. Pose girlfriend!

What? You wannuh piece of me?

Nope, didn’t really work. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Here’s the before:

Zzzzzz

How about another one?

She’s flying!

Ok…I know. Snooze fest. Feel free to fire me as a blogger.

I feel like I’ve lost my sewing mojo, guys. It’s pretty tragic. (you know compared to national disasters and stuff, it’s a big deal.) Please bear with me while I try to locate it….also the sewing might be a little light for a little bit because of that. (yes I’ve been trolling Pinterest for inspiration…no I’m not motivated-inspired yes, lazy, yes….which doesn’t combine well) Anywho. I’m trying, really. Christmas dresses are on the list, and maybe if the stars align I can come up with something cute. Wish me luck!

Also! I am participating in another Motherhood/Facebook chat-the last one I did was a blast! I hope you can join us tonight…here are the deets.

  1. So not boring with those cute poses – and the cheeks!! Adorable. It’s been a long year – don’t be too hard on yourself…looking forward to seeing the Christmas dresses – and if you buy them at the store – I look forward to seeing those too! Have a lovely, relaxing weekend!

  2. Ahh those cheeks, I die! No blog firing coming from me – I love the humour and there’s nothing like a good restyle – quick yet effective 🙂

  3. You have been a trifle busy in the last few months – made me tired just reading about it! Take some time out and RELAX – if that’s in your dictionary!

Have a good holiday when it comes! Bet the little ones are looking forward to it – don’t forget to pay a visit to http://[email protected] and see if a Cuddly might find a home with your girls? You might find some inspiration there as well – who knows.

    All the best. Isobel

  4. Charlotte is too scrumptious! Doesn’t look like you’ve lost your mojo at all!! A Christmas dress is on the list for my little girl too so PLEASE do a tutorial, I would love you forever (ok I will even if you don’t!!). My mum used to make me dresses from kits, it’s a brand that’s just restarted over here. Take a peek it might inspire something! http://www.clothkits.co.uk/

  5. Jess, I just laughed out loud (at work!) when I saw that second picture. Too sweet!!

And keep in mind that your “lost my sewing mojo” is most of our normal. You’ll find it again soon. Try reorganizing your sewing supplies. I always find things I forgot I had and get inspired when I do that!

  6. How do u get those photos! Too sweet.

  7. We definitely won’t fire you. I’m also in one of those “no motivation to sew” kind of moods. It’s lasted for the last month. I hope you can break yours sooner because it’s kind of a drag. At least a lot of yard works gotten done around here.

  8. You’re not the only one suffering from the winter-time blahs with crafting. I just posted the other day about it. And then thought I was done with it after stitching up an upcycled pj shirt for my daughter’s pj day at school. But then it was Hat Day and after 2 failed attempts, I was sunk. 🙁 I’m hoping to start getting together the patterns for jackets for the kids today, so maybe just maybe… At least Christmas is a good deadline to have!

And I like C’s new shirts!

  9. VanessaVelasquez says

Get that mojo back!!! i mean it!! there are hundreds of desperated mommys with little girls overthere, counting on you to copy your dresses, use your tutorials and to figure it out what to sew for christmas,… please dont let us down… that REALLY could be a national disaster!!!

  10. The second picture of Charlotte is killing me. 🙂 I’ve been trying to make a Christmas dress for Ansley for at least three weeks. Then I got distracted with clear coating my table and making a temple dress and who knows what else. Oh yeah I had to wait for more fabric to arrive b/c I changed my mind mid dress and didn’t want to stand in line at JoAnns for hours for a 1/4 of a yard.

  11. I wasn’t bored at all these pictures are so stinkin’ cute!!! It is good to know even the likes of you loses her mojo from time to time. I am sure you will come up with something! Thanks for sharing.

  12. No at snooze fest at all! Cute, original tops from thrifted t’s – Charlotte is happy! I’ve got patterns, trim, and fabric already pre-washed but for some reason can’t bring myself to cut out and get started on Christmas dresses yet either! Guess, it’s not close enough to the deadline 😉 why are sewers such procrastinators?

  13. malutka jest przesłodka 🙂 mały aniołeczek z tej modelki i wygląda na cierpliwą na pomysły mamy.

  14. I adore your girls! They are so stinking cute!

I have a pile of tees here that I want to refashion, but am having a hard time with the sizing…have you done a tute on how to resize the shirts? You have done a great job with these, so I am curious! I can’t seem to figure it out!

  15. I don’t think it’s boring! I love seeing clothing re-do’s! And that pose is hilarious. I need to re-do a few t’s myself….

  16. Girl you are not boring. Slap yourself and snap out of it….we need you 🙂

  17. Okay, seriously…I want Charlotte for Christmas. She is SO PRECIOUS!!! 🙂

  18. Your girls are TOO cute! Love Charlotte’s cheek-adorable 🙂 The tops are cute too. If your need to sew returns, I just made Simple Simon’s vintage jumper as a Christmas dress for my friend’s girls. They are so,so cute and super twirly! Maybe I’ll get around to one for my little girl by spring…no inspiration here either and I’m tired from too many handmade gifts…

  19. I think anyone who has sewn for a while knows that the mojo comes and goes for everyone. Unfortunately it is a little more obvious when you blog about sewing!! I think it is great you have just come out and told us. I am so inspired by all the beautiful clothes you make for your girls. So I am very happy to keep wandering along with you and visiting your blog regularly until your mojo inevitably returns. It will be worth the wait!
In the mean time, look back on all the wonderful tutorials you have given us and take some time to feel proud of what you have done.
