KCWC-Sadie’s Abbey jacket

My semi-last minute contribution to KCWC was this Abbey jacket for Sadie. Adorbs, right? I made it with this pattern, which was great!

I used charcoal grey fleece from Joanns (hope it doesn’t pill too much), and a napkin for the lining. Yes, a napkin. A girl’s gotta get fabric wherever she can!

I got it in Utah in May, since it was such a cute print I had to grab it, and it was the perfect amount for this jacket-plus, grey and mustard yellow is such a cute combination!

My favorite touch was using yellow embroidery thread to sew on the white buttons. Perfecto!

I cut out a size 2T (actually kind of intending it to be large on Charlotte), but it fit the Sadester almost perfectly so she got it. The sleeves were a little long, but that’s better than too short! The fit everywhere else was great.

I love the button tabs on the front and sleeves! I had pinned a jacket like this one and wanted to copy it but hadn’t (obviously) gotten around to it. I just LOVE when other people do the hard work for you. Sometimes I wish I could just clone myself so I could work on two projects at once.

Like another jacket for Charlotte this time!?

  9. If it DOES pill, a good trick is to take a cheapo razor and “shave” the fleece. Works like a charm, I tell you!

  25. Wow! I love that jacket. I also bought that pattern but I haven’t get to work yet. I have a question for you: do you think it could work in another fabric such as twill or corduroy? I can’t find a cute fleece color where I live so I had thought of using another fabric. Also, you say the pattern is quite big. My daughter is a tall 4 years old. What size would you recommend me to sew?

  26. love this jess!!! and the fleece must be so cozy. sadie is such a poser, hehehe

  27. Wow! You got so much done for KCWC! I wish I had that much to show! Love the color combo!
