this outfit cost me $5.

Yep, a whopping 5 smakeroos went into this outfit. (minus the shoes, which you can’t see anyways cause I sunk into the grass so much)ย
Normally I wouldn’t show you my outfits (I’m no “style blogger” though wish I could be worthy of such…really I only “dress up” on Sundays for church…have I used enough “air quotes” in this parantheses?) but I made my top…I am slowly getting into sewing for myself and seeing that it’s not so scary.ย  It’s a simple knit top, made with that thrifted material.
Material and buttons for the top were $2, belt $1, and skirt $2. (all thrifted!) I accidentally shrunk the skirt (oops!) but it fit, albeit, it squished my internal organs more than Sadie or Charlotte ever did in utero, but still, it fit.

you get the side profile, otherwise I would totally intimidate you/scare you with my linebacker shoulders. Seriously. They’re fierce.
Here’s a close up of the buttons (and half of a fierce shoulder), I sewed them on top of a little pleated piece of fabric to add some interest. So what do you think? I wasn’t sure about the plaid, but it’s growing on me. It’s totally not cute with jeans though. It needs the high-waisted skirt. Now to find another navy skirt that won’t cut off all circulation to my bottom half. (ok, it’s not that bad…)

  2. I love it. We could have been twins at church. This last week I also wore a plaid top with a long pencil skirt. Both also thrifted.

    That shirt came out SUPER cute! It may not llok good with blue jeans but try it with some cute black dressy capris and some little sandles. {if you have more material from it make a bow and tie it to some flip flops}
