lucky dress part 3: putting it together

Let’s get started on assembling the Lucky dress together!

See more after the jump!

First things first, let’s sew those shoulder seams, right sides together. On both the main fabric and lining, like so.

sew…

Press open your seams, and then lay out the main fabric right side up, then lay the lining right side down like so, and pin around the neckline and down the back.

Hello Sadie’s toes!

Sew up one side of the back, around the neckline, and down the other side. Clip curves, and turn right side out and press with your iron.

Next sew a gathering stitch to your sleeve pieces, layering them like this:

I had to go back and fix mine cause they poofed out too much on the bottom. So I would recommend tucking the bottom curve father in to the sleeve so it’s nicer looking. Leave about 1/2″ of room from the edge for the side seams.

Hope my arrows helped. hehe. Sew in the sleeves and finish the seams, then pin the front and back pieces right sides together, including the lining, and sew down the sides, and finish those seams.

Next: Buttons and faux layered hem!

  1. I figured out why I love this dress so much! Of course it’s beautiful (as is your model!) and I love the pleated front, but it’s the fabric. It reminds me of the play clothes in the Sound of Music 🙂
