Thanksgiving/fall dresses

So…I couldn’t help making some matching “dresses” for the girls to wear on Thanksgiving. I picked up a cute top made of fall-ish fabric last time I was thrifting, and used that for the ruffles. I used this tutorial-and almost threw in the towel halfway through when I remembered I hate making ruffles.

HA! The joke was on me.

 Luckily, I persevered and I think they turned out ok. The middle ruffle isn’t really ruffly cause I was working with what I had at the moment, but oh well! I also slapped on some quick matching appliques to the front of the tee.

It took me FOREVER to find a good spot to take pics of these. You can kind of see the changing leaves on the trees in this pic…that’s about all we get in Cali. ;}

  1. Super cute. Makes me wish both mine were girls. Then they could match…. Maybe I should just make my girl something out of the fabric I used for the boy…

  2. Cute!!! I love the stuff you whip up for the girls!
    You should get a ruffler foot–I asked for one for Christmas and I might be sick with anticipation for the next month–it looks so fun and easy 🙂

  3. just saw this post yesterday and totally wanted to make them. Looks fun, but I’m sure the ruffles take a long time. 🙂

  4. So cute!! You’ll have to post a pic from Thanksgiving of them wearing them together!

  5. Darling as always. I agree, we need to see pics of the girls in the dresses.

  6. love the dresses- I’ve totally been meaning to put something together for piper jane and burke and their cousin hannah for thanksgiving. maybe I should get on that? or perhaps just let it go? your post about things feeling crazy struck a chord with me- I’m with you, buddy (even though there is NOTHING fun about a punk-ish toddler and an up-all-night baby, I love having someone to commiserate with in the chaos!).

    LOVE you new fabric, by the way. can’t wait to see the stockings!

  17. These are so cute, Jess. The girls will look so cute in them. I’ve ditched all plans I had of making my girls dresses for Thanksgiving. I’m about ready to ditch my Christmas dress plans, too:) I’ll have to start earlier next year.
