pumpkin dress

I hereby dub this dress the "Pumpkin Dress". So fall-ish! I got this fabric on sale awhile ago at Joann's (on my trip to Utah earlier this year), and have been saving it for the "perfect" dress.

I do that sometimes...and then two years later I will still have a piece waiting...oh well. Someday all my fabric will get used. It may be by my grandchildren...but hey-at least it wasn't wasted. heh heh.

I just know I'm going to be that crazy old lady with buckets of fabric sitting in her attic.

Sadie loves it. She saw it hanging on the wall and said "ME MINE ME MINE" and started ripping her clothes off to try it on. She loves everything I make her these days. (BIG happy grin from me)

She'd love it even if it had lobsters or something ridiculous on the fabric. She'd think it was Sebastian from the Little Mermaid and start doing the pinchy fingers. and then singing Under the Sea....

oOOK...getting sidetracked...

I made my own pattern for this one-the sleeves were really the only "new" thing on the dress-and I love em! They're really easy too.

It's very mod fabric so I wanted to make a really simple dress.

Can you tell I'm a little obsessed right now with the button thing in the back? You can't really see it, but I covered the button with the same fabric so it kinda blends in.

p.s. My felt food tutorials were featured on Sew, Mama, Sew the other day!

That is so cute! I love that fabric! Sadie looks adorable in her new dress too! I love the sleeves! And as for the button on the back..it just makes it easier to get the little ones big heads into their clothing! I wish more things came like that!

It's so dang cute! And if you're the crazy lady with buckets of fabric, then I guess you are in good company because I am too. I have so much fabric and scraps that I picked up thinking I could make something out of it, but haven't yet. Lol Oh well.

so cute Jess. I love the fabric.
To bad I don't have to wait to be an old lady before I turn into the crazy fabric hoarder. I've already got fabric stashed away in every corner in my house. Of course it's all too good to use now.

Wow I csn't believe you made that without a pattern. It looks like something you could buy in a boutique store. So cute! I know what you mean about the fabric. I have way too much too!

I LOVE the dress! And I know what you mean about fabric. My family thinks I'm crazy because when I get new fabric as gifts I'll close my eyes while I hold it and then it will come to me what to do with it! If I don't get any ideas, I put it back for when it comes to me!!!

That dress is perfect! Love the fabric...I look forward to when my granddaughter is old enough to wear dresses like that. hmmm I should start now...

Remember, she who finishes with the most fabric wins!

Aww, so cute both the dress and model. I was planning to make a dress for my little girl but got stuck with something else. Now I'm gonna make one!!

Um tutorial please??? I love it!! The back closure looks super cute. Did you use one of her old dresses for measurements. My problem is that my kids are always sleeping when I sew for them, so I can't ever seem to actually measure a real body to get my sizes!

First of all, I absolutely adore the dress. You're great at what you do! Second of all, your little girl is the most precious thing I've ever seen! Her smile just melts your heart! Thanks for sharing :) You're truly an inspiration.
