yo-yo clip tutorial

Have a plethora of yo-yo’s around? No? Well, get to making some so you can make these cute clips for yourself…or your daughter…or your mom for mother’s day….or your dog…..

Anyways, I really did have a bunch laying around that I made like, 2 1/2 years ago on a trip to Hawaii, with no plan in mind. (I was 5 weeks pregnant, but I don’t know if that was why I made so many…maybe I was nesting REALLY early)

Click below for more!

You’ll need:

yo yo’s (here is a great tutorial)
glue gun
embroidery thread if you wish to sew the button down instead of the lazy glue gun method I used
alligator clips (I get mine here)
button (s)
scrap of felt

First, sew or glue your buttons over the opening of the yo yo.

Then, cut two circles of felt. (Mine were about 1 1/4 inches wide, and my yo yo’s were 2 1/4 inches wide)

Fold your circle in half and make two little cuts, for the alligator clip to slip through.

(no pic, cause it’s pretty impossible to take a picture of without help)

Then, slip the clip through the felt piece like so, and dab some glue between the clip and felt in the places shown in the picture above.

Then, glue your felt piece to the back of the yo yo, like shown! tada! you’re done.

Next, repeat a gajillion times until you run out of clips, yo yo’s, or buttons, whatever comes first.

But hey-all that crazy glue gunning I was doing will benefit one of you! I made a little springy set for a giveaway, cause it’s been awhile!

I love that pink weird shaped button……and look how much I love you guys. I sewed the buttons on instead of gluing them!

that’s love.

Simply leave a comment on this post to enter…one per person, US entries only, (to keep shipping low, since I don’t make any money off this blog…how do I rectify that? haha. jk) Make sure to leave your email address in your comment so I can let you know if you’ve won!

And while you’re at it, tell me your favorite accessory to wear!

I will pick a winner randomly this Saturday, April 24th. Happy yo yo making!

  14. How cute! Would love to have these for my daughter Kate, 14 months. Suddenly her hair is getting long and out of control!

A purse is an accessory, right? That’s my favorite splurge. I love Michael Kors purses, but I have only bought 2 in the last 4 years… they LAST!! And I haven’t bought any others in that time. I think it’s justified. ๐Ÿ™‚
