So...teething is fun. As you can see, Sadie agrees. She's been pretty grumpy lately, mostly while nursing or trying to fall asleep. This time we were trying to encourage her to roll from her back to her front. The audacity! This is what we got when we sat her up.

Trip to the park...among other things...
Today was cloudy with spots of sunshine, so I wanted to get out of the house! I called up Cassy, who was already at the park, so I headed on over. Sadie had fun "sliding" down the slide and hamming it up with Rayne!

Awww!

Awww!
So while I was talking to the doctor yesterday at her appointment, she mentioned that teeth will just show up without a lot of fanfare sometimes. Lo and behold, this morning I felt a tooth coming through! Just the top, but oh wow, I felt so proud and scared that she's growing up! She's in such a fun stage right now, and I wish I could freeze it or bottle it up or something. I will have to settle for many mental and real pictures! So, wish me luck with the nursing thing...hope she doesn't get too many too fast! eek!
In other teeth news, I went tonight for my third appointment to fill my cavities! All done...except for my wisdom teeth are next...in a few weeks. Yikes! Not really looking forward to that at all. Can you blame me?

Goober
Goober is my nickname for the Sadie meister. Well, one of them. We had a pretty good day today, besides the needles. She had her six month appointment today, so three more shots. Poor baby! She did great until that point, flirting with the doctor and everyone who walked by. I counted seven people while we were waiting just for the shots that stopped to wave or talk to her. She smiled at ALL of them! She was workin' the crowds! hehe. What a cutie. She was in a great mood. Darn shots. She cried all the way home and until I nursed her to sleep, then enjoyed a Tylenol aided nap for an hour and a half. (her, not me)
She felt much better after that! Then we headed back out for a major shopping/grocery trip to Wally World...which she was an angel for. Yessss. I also picked up her pictures we had taken a few weeks ago, I think they're cute, but I could do just as well. I wish I had a better camera though. (BTW Julia, Josh, and Joanna, I left your pictures in your rooms. Hope you found them ok)
Cutie with a booty! (although you can't see it in this pic) She weighs 16 lbs 10 oz and is 25 inches tall. 50th percentile for weight and a wee bit of a shorty. That's my girl!
Sadie was in a giggly mood when we got back, so I had a blast tickling her and "eating" her tummy. She loves it and so do I! She was giving me big slobbery kisses and trying to give me hickies on my cheeks as well. Aren't babies a hoot?! Anyways, then Aunt Nae Nae came over and we puttered around and went to my parents house for an Easter dress fitting. My (awesome incredibly talented) sewing mom is making her Easter dress, and it is going to be CA-UTE! I can't wait to see it finished. She also let the cat out of the bag on an even MORE awesome project, but I am mum on that til it's finished. We headed back over to our house to make dinner for the missionaries from our ward (pasta with meatballs, breadsticks, veggies, and oreo pie for dessert), which was a success! We had Janae and Jarom both over, so it was a full table with 7 of us around it! (including Sadie) We need a bigger table! Someday...so after Rory got back from Mutual, I headed off to Cassy's for some hot tubbing. That hot water felt good! Now I"m going to bed. Possibly before I make it to my bed. ZZzzzz. Night Night.

Rolling around...
This girl has been quite the mover and shaker lately! I can hardly get her to stay on her tummy cause she rolls straight over to her back every time. lol.
Cora Paige
I was sifting through all the blogs I read last week and found a mention of a family that had just lost their 11 month old baby girl to cancer, three weeks (!) after being diagnosed. My heart was heavy and I cried for this little girl and her parents. I can't imagine what they are going through. However, they are honoring their daughter by raising money for a playground in her remembrance, and many Etsy sellers have started putting up listings for that reason. I wanted to help, so I have too. So, if you want to hear the family's story, go here and check out all the amazing items being sold on Etsy to raise money here.
So hug your loved ones a little tighter today!

Sunday: Church and food
Am I right? Most of our Sundays revolve around church and food. Not a bad way to spend a day if you ask me! We had a regional stake conference today, so church was 3 hours earlier, which was nice for us, but Sadie was pretty grumpy halfway through. Oh well! We lazed about in the afternoon, and then got ready for my family to come over for dinner. Which meant they had to bring an extra table and chairs and plates. So sad, we need more plates. And chairs.

Anyways...it was a success! We had tacos/burritos with some home grown cilantro (among other things) for a garnish! Yum. I also made my famous peanut butter bars for dessert so we chowed on those, then took a break for FHE and games, then went back for some more dessert that my mom had made...see what I mean about the food? Anyways, it was a lot of fun, and not too many dishes, right Rory? (he actually did them for me tonight! YAYAYAY)
So these flowers are "from" Rory for Valentine's day. He's horrible (sorry hunny) at remembering to get me flowers. Plus, he thinks they're lame cause they die. Me, I LOVE fresh flowers. They liven up a house soo much. I put them in the cart at Safeway the other day and said "Thanks hun." Sigh. Wish I didn't have to buy myself flowers. HINT HINT.

This table cloth was a housewarming gift from one of Rory's clients from a project at work. She's from Russia and she brought us this beautiful tablecloth+napkins for our new house. It's even prettier in person!

Tossed these Chrysanthemums in for good measure! (BTW, I totally spelled that all by myself! haha)

Wow it's late and I should not be blogging.
Yet I am. Just a quick post about today.
-Rory cleaned the yard of various things this morning, with the help of his trusty sidekick Chris. Or maybe Rory is Chris's sidekick? I'll let you two work it out.
-We all went to a baby shower for our friends Morgen and Teresa, having a baby girl in a couple months. It was so fun! I totally won the match the crazy celebrity baby names to the parents game. I knew all that celebrity baby blog reading would come in handy someday! hah. I matched 14 out of 25. The next closest person had seven. Oh yeahhh!
-Sadie got a lot of compliments at the shower and even started being shy, dropping her head on my shoulder when people talked to her! She's never done that to me before, but darn was it ca-ute!
-Scoped out my parents yard, they're fixing it up and it's looking good! Took home some of my cilantro I've been growing in their greenhouse...yay for guacamole tomorrow. yum!
-Went back and forth over what to do for dinner for like an hour.
-Finally ate dinner.
-Watched season finales of Monk and Psych. Next season is the last for MOnk! How DARE THEY?!
-Got Janae to bring us frosties from Wendy's and played Mario Kart til we dropped.
-Midway, Jarom joined us, then we had a long conversation until 15 minutes ago.
-Now I"m typing this but realizing my bedtime was an hour and a half ago.
-Going to bed.

Kitchen redo a go-go
A month or two ago I sent in pictures of our redone kitchen to This Young House, one of my favorite home design blogs. They post reader re-do's, befores and afters of rooms their readers have done. Well, they posted our kitchen today, you can find it by clicking here! While you're there, check out some of their rooms, or their wedding photos, they're simply gorgeous!! Thanks John and Sherry!

lalalllaaalala
So, today after din din with Aunt Nana Sadie decided she needed a new look. Aunt Nana let her borrow her glasses, and wala!! -her look was born. Pretty cute huh? (especially the drool stains)
The sun shined today! Hallelujah! A trip to the park and walk with Kim and Payton was in order...it was so nice, Sadie started giggling when I put her in the swing! She was pretty excited I guess. Either that or I had something on my face, who knows? Today she laughed for like 5 minutes because I was blowing on her stomach. Who ever knows what will tickle a baby's funny bone?
Her hair looks so red in the sun! I can see blond hairs though, so all bets are on! Strawberry blond VS redhead. Speaking of betting, I could've won good money on tonight's episode of American Idol, as I called all 3 of the contestants that were moving on! woot! Danny's my favorite, but Alexis is a mommy so I like her a lot too.
My mouth HU-RTS. I got some more cavities filled on the other side of my mouth today, and the dentist said they were pretty bad so those teeth would be sensitive. I didn't know sensitive meant a very big massive ginormous headache or hurts to chew or talk or do anything but watch American Idol and type. That's not all...I have to go in AGAIN next week to get the last two filled. Oh goody goody gumdrops. THEN my wisdom teeth get to be yanked from my poor little mouth! Sorry for my griping, I just have a lot of years worth of pent up dental issues to get off my chest. lol.
Everything else is grand! I cleaned all the floors today and did two loads of laundry. (granted, one is still in the dryer, but hey, give a girl a break!) Domestic goddess I am....sort of...not so much.

10. We heart Minnie!
11. Sissies
12. Bath time....apparently Sadie misses her tub back home.

Old friends, new friends
Today our friends Mike and Candice Baird (from our youthful days in Utah) stop by while they were in the area visiting his brother. (Yeah right, we know you guys came out here to see us.) We've been friends ever since an air hockey game brought us together...way back when...truthfully, we almost bailed before we met you guys that night, glad we didn't! Anyways, I'll spare you the awesomeness of the fun we had in Utah, but I will say that they got me hooked on The Office, so that should tell you right there how cool these two are! lol. Now they have two little bebes of their own! Twinners. Wow, and I thought it was hard with one! Isaac and Josslyn are their cute mini me's. We had fun catching up and eating Togo's, and the babies had fun...lying/sitting next to each other. hehe.
Yes, Sadie looks monstrous in this picture. She's drowning in her 6-9 month pants, but the 3-6 are too short. Oh well. Things were going well...until..
Then we figured we'd better get a picture with the four of us! Now...we have to plan our trip to Utah....

6 months old!
Wow my baby is half a year old! It seems like just yesterday we were leaving the hospital. Pretty soon she will be talking and walking and getting her drivers license and going to college. Whoa there. lol. So, I'm sorry, but is this not the cutest picture? Please ignore my sunroom, it's not finished but has the best lighting in the house. :-)
Well, Sadie, she loves her solids! She loves rice cereal, and has had peas, carrots, peaches, bananas, applesauce, and squash. Squash is her favorite, as much as Daddy tried to change her mind. (he hates the stuff) She's sitting like a pro and hardly ever falls over. She started doing this funny noise in the back of her throat while we were in Disneyland...it's hilarious! She also likes talking (bababa). She likes urping on her clothes still, this outfit was the first one...it didn't make it to church. She grabs for EVERYTHING. Baby proofing here we come. She loves her bouncer and is enjoying tummy time instead of huffing and puffing every time. In short, she's awesome and we love her so much!

Disneyland
Phew! You'd think our "relaxing" trip to Disneyland would have been just that. It was nice but we are glad to be back!
We drove down Wednesday night and got there around midnight, Sadie did great! The next morning, Rory headed to his convention, while Joanna and I battled lost socks, parking garages, and swarms of people. Once in the park, it was nice to stroll around and not worry about getting on all the rides. We found some characters too! Goofy and Pluto. Sadie liked Pluto a lot...she must have a thing for orange just like her Dad.
We had fun listening to a band and choir perform, find hidden passageways (did you know you can go into Sleeping Beauty's castle? How out of the loop are we?), made some wishes at the wishing well, visited TOonToWn, ate some yummy bread bowls with gumbo for me, clam chowder for Joanna, took lots of pictures, went on Storybook Land ride, teacups, Joanna performed in a band...(she played the piano...hehe not really it was funny though).
The flowers were bea-yootiful. The sunshine was nice too!

Friday we got up and headed into the park with clouds and potential (for sure) rain looming. We managed to avoid it all morning while riding the Mark Twain Riverboat, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Indiana Jones, until after lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, when it started pouring! We, not being prepared, all got soaked (except Sadie), until we bought some awesome and stylin' ponchos.

After another hour or so wading around with the other people, and a ride on Space Mountain, we gave up and went back to the hotel room to nap (me and Sadie), read (Joanna), and something I know not (Rory). Later on we went to Outback for dinner and spent a nice evening watching Super Nanny. Today we headed up to Hollywood for a little sightseeing.
We (Joanna and I) hopped out of the car to take a look around Grauman's Chinese Theater and the hand and foot prints of famous people in the concrete. It was so cool and fun and totally touristy. Rory took a trip into the hills with the Sadester while we did this, he having no interest whatsoever in stars or Hollywood. Lame.
We were accosted by a (fake, obviously) Jack Sparrow, but when he found out we didn't have our wallets with us, he got out of there. Once Freddy Kreuger moved in though, I was out of there! I hate scary movies for a reason. ahhhh...gives me shivers. Then we went to Pink's hot dog stand for lunch, supposedly all the stars go there...but we didn't see anyone! Only a guy who kind of looked like Clay Aiken. Who I don't care about, but anyways, it was good food, my turkey burger was yum yum! The line took over an hour though, and Rory was about to pull rank on us by the time we were halfway to the window. It was an experience, that's for sure!
After that, we headed north for home...and made it with only a few crying bouts and restlessness from Sadie. We're glad to be home...but we will probably go back within a few months. Season passes rock!(now, to catch up on all our DVR'd shows....)

the girl likes her links
Soooo...today we were going to go get some pictures of Sadie taken, but of course, she planned her nap to interfere with that appointment, so we had to reschedule for tomorrow. It's her way or the highway! Wish us luck that we'll make it tomorrow! So, instead we went to OD's for lunch with Cassy and Rayne. Not a bad trade. It was scrumptious! I had a Garlic Mushroom Chicken sandwich, and Cassy had a Spinach Feta Mushroom sandwich, and we traded halves and tried them both! My Grandma Lance and I do that when we go. OD's really is one of my favorite places to eat. It's a little "hole in the wall" place that just has the best food. I think it would be a perfect place for Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives to visit. Rory and I love that show, but it always makes me so hungry when we watch it! Oh well! In the afternoon Janae came with me for a quick trip to Goodwill, where I found a large basket to catch our shoes in for $4, and two pairs of jeans for Sadie, both $2 each. Not too shabby! We've enjoyed the sunshine lasting longer in the evening, I can't wait for summer. (I know, only February...) I also packed a little bit for our trip to So-Cal. It's going to be weird going to Disneyland with just the 4 of us, we're used to going with large groups, but I think it will also be kind of relaxing. I'm looking forward to spending time with Joanna, I hardly see her nowadays since she's s busy with work and school and I'm busy with the rug rat. She's getting to be a rug rat too! She's rolling all over, although only back and forth. It's so cute. The video is a funny one, hope you enjoy it!Monday, February 9, 2009
New outfit!
I made this cute little skirt and onesie set for Sadie today! Simple and easy...
Tomorrow we're going to one of those photo places to get some of those cheesy posed baby photos...I'm so excited! My mom is going to go with us to help out with the smiling and such. We're also getting ready for our trip down to Disneyland later this week. We're also planning on going to the Hollywood walk of fame and doing some other touristy things. Should be fun!Sunday, February 8, 2009
Sunday...
It rained....rained....and rained again today. It made for another cozy day! After dinner we played around with Sadie in her room, which we don't spend much time in oddly. Anyways, here are some pictures of our evening!

Then we headed over to my parents for some cookies and cream cheesecake. It was delish! The cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandparents were abundantly present. ;-) It was fun to meet my uncle's fiance's son Cory, and talk more with Robin! Everyone loves Sadie, but I don't know if anyone can compete with Janae's level of adoration. If she is within 100 yards of Sadie she wants to hold her. hehe. Anyways, Joanna was playing some tunes on her ol' violin, so I joined in, it was fun to play again...my mom keeps bugging me to bring mine over so she can tune it. I will Mom, this week. (if I remember) Then Jarom started playing.

Aren't those blue eyes so pretty?

The evolution of a backyard.
June last year, our second visit to the house, when we decided to put an offer in. Overgrown with who knows what...I was afraid to venture out there, so I stayed on the patio.
Soon after we bought the house, the bank had the weeds whacked, gangster style. We were LOVING all of those pavers and rocks. hah.
Yesterday. The pavers were long gone, thanks to the young men in our ward. Yesterday the guy removed some stumps/plants, this nasty deck surrounding the playhouse, and the fence that was along the sheds. It looks so much better! Yeah, not awesome, but better!
Removed all the weird plasticky things around the yard and some more bricks. I found 2 tennis balls, one baseball, and a football. Sah-weet!It's still a work in progress, obviously. Underneath the grass/weeds that are rampant now are a bunch of small rocks, so those will be fun to remove. We are getting excited to see the changes in the yards, and are looking at our options for redoing the hall bath too! Can't wait!

Rainy days...
It rained ALL. DAY. TODAY. Which is fine with me, we need the rain bad! It made for a cozy day spent watching TV, playing with Sadie, working on some orders, enjoying some lunch, napping, reading to Sadie, watching Sadie eat her book, and playing with Aunt Nae Nae. She has been sorely missed round these parts! She's been sick for the past week or two, and is feeling much better now! We of course, had to make some cupcakes! It's a recipe I'm trying out for Stephanie's bridal shower we're throwing her down here. Shh...it's a secret. Just kidding. Anyways....I made this recipe... with this frosting, and Oh boy they're A-MAZING! YUmmm. I only wish I had eaten a whole one before going to the dentist. I got one side of my mouth all numbed up for my cavities...so I still can't feel my right side and boy, was eating dinner fun today! lol. I'm hoping it will wear off soon so I can enjoy one before too long.

Edit: Cupcake time! My mouth is almost back to normal...close enough!

We're goofy but cool. Except not very cool.

Sadie loves her sippy cup...she's been having trouble getting anything out of it lately....
