The quilt!

Here is the finished product! It was easier than I expected and I learned a few thing along the way that will be helpful next time. (next time...always next time...grr)

The whole thing!

Nicely sewn edges! I know that's what you're thinkin', right?

Sadie loves it! She loved it so much she urped all over it right after this picture! Yess! Plus, what a silly little smile...

It took a new toy and a bit of coaxing, but I got a better smile out of her!

Flashback Friday

Whoa, it's been a long time since I did this! I should call it Flashback Finally! haha. Yes, I know I am hilarious. It's a bit ridiculous how funny I am. Moving on.

Isn't this picture Awesome with a capital A? It's from when Rory and I lived in Utah, and my family stopped by on their way home from a church history tour (which I have not gotten over missing BTW), and the kids (Joanna, Jarom, and Justin) stayed with us for a week or so afterwards. It was a blast hanging out with them and trying TO skip work to hang out with them. (I mean, using my sick days, heh heh) We headed to this awesome park we used to go to a lot and played some football, or a game with a football, or something like that. They might kill me for putting these up, but they'll have to catch me first! Plus, I have worse. Jarom+Marilyn Monroe wig=?. End of story. Enjoy!

Be quite.

So I got a text from Rory this evening, which is strange in and of itself as he never texts, plus he was just in the living room...but anyways, it said:

Come take a picture be quite.

Be quite what? Charming? Beautiful? Totally all around awesome? We already know I am all of those things. Also "quite" humble. Anyways, I gathered the real meaning of his text, and snuck out to the living room. And found this cutie asleepin' away next to her daddy. Say it with me....AWWWwwww...

P.S. Finished the quilt! Will take better pictures tomorrow when the sun's shining. Assuming it will be. (crossing my fingers)

Quiltin'

Man, it's tiring to quilt a quilt on a machine. Pushing all that fabric through over and over again. It's a work out! It's done though...so yay. (the quilting part)

Link
Now I have to sew the binding on, by hand, thank you very much. I've never done that, so I had to look it up online...here is the tutorial I found that helped the most. It has pretty pictures and step by step instructions. Which my instruction-handicapped brain really needs. Oh, the pattern I used is from this book, which I got for Christmas. Thanks hun!

So, I've done almost the equivalent of one side of the quilt while watching the second half the Biggest Loser. Not too bad! Please, don't do what I did and start the binding on the back. grr.

Just life...

Wouldn't you love waking up to a face like this? She's so happy when she wakes up it almost makes it worth waking up. (for me) lol.

I got a new reading lamp for my nightstand. We only had one measly light in there before. Is it weird that I love pulling the little chain so much I will turn it on for no reason? Oh well, all the better to read my mound of books waiting to be read.

I am embarking on a quilt-making venture for Sadie. I want to make each of my kids their own quilt. Assuming I don't have 10 kids, in which case maybe just a blankie. (there are absolutely NO plans for 10 kids. Just to clear that up)

Stay tuned for more quilt making fun!

Saturdays rock!

Reasons Saturdays rock:

I get to shower without baby in the bathroom with me. (in her bouncer)
I get to eat breakfast without bouncing baby on hip or placing in swing.
We get to go see movies (separately of course, Rory's turn this week)
Cassy and I had a great talk whilst the boys were watching some bloody vampire movie. (if it doesn't have Edward in it, it's not worth it, am I right girls?)
We get to go out to lunch with friends (the Watsons)
We got to watch LOST finally. (Uh...time travel? really?)
We got to have some family over for cake and dominoes. (we didn't eat the dominoes silly)

Rory gets to hang out with Sadie:

Uhhh....couch potato in the making? No, don't worry. We don't let her "watch" TV for long periods of time. At least, I hope not...Rory?

I also worked on some onesies for my etsy store. How cute are these monogrammed onesies for some triplet boys? Aww

Oh, and Sadie had some rice cereal today for the first time!

She loved it, can you tell? No, really. She ate it all with barely a grimace!

Notice our intense, concentrated stares.

Rory had some fun making choo choo train sounds. hehe

Rainy Day fun

We had a fun lazy rainy day today. Janae came over (big surprise) and we played with baby, scrapbooked, baked, lunched, and cooked dinner. And when I say we, I mean I. Well, Janae handled the baby while I did the food. lol. Baby was in a good mood today, thank goodness! She likes it when we get out of the house or when other people besides me are over. I think she thinks I'm boring sometimes. I don't blame her...haha. Well, I'm off to watch the season premiere of Lost. I can't wait to see how they're gonna get back to the island. Carazay!

Most of her days are spent trying to eat her toes. Yum!

The pants in action! Look at that cute little toosh!

I scrapbooked.

Hurrah!

It's so glamorous being a parent.

Look closer.

That dark spot on her pants and shirt.

Yes. A diaper exploded today.

I changed the color to black and white to spare the innocent.
(believe me, it was yucky)

Blowout! This is only minutes after the fact! Somehow her diaper just exploded. haha. We don't get these often, so it was kind of funny. Anywho, she got a second bath and was happy as can be!

NEW and improved pantalones

This round of pant-making went much quicker. Cut out and sewn in about 15 minutes. Of course, there are only 5 seams. lol. Hopefully the more ahem, generous cut of the bottom area will fit my little darling better.

Too bad she's not awake to try them on cause I want to make more! oh well. I will have to wait til tomorrow to cut up more of Rory's old shirts/shirts he doesn't like anymore.

Just a wee patch to fancy it up! (I just love stuff on kids booties. Well, on my kid. I can't speak for other people's booty preferences)

Practice makes pants

Today Sadie took a LOONG afternoon nap (thank the heavens!) so, in a random fit of sewing I decided to try this tutorial for baby "yoga" pants you make from old tshirts! (obviously she's not actually going to do yoga in them, although that would be awesome) Cool, no? So I thought. It actually was very easy-only took me about one maybe one and a half-ish Friends episodes. (which is how I tell time BTW, very technical) The problem was the pattern. It's kind of...freehand. I don't do...freehand. So, here's my finished product...

Not so bad folded, huh? Look below...

Yes, my baby now has EXTREME low riders. haha. I only wish I hadn't wasted that cute vintage trim on this pair. I should have known better. I should not have been so cocky/confident. lol. So...next up...a pair of pants that have ROOM for Sadie's big ol' diaper booty!

Wish me luck.

Swingy little Sadie

Five months old....

The bebe is five months old today! Miss Sadie had quite the day too! We went to the park, not once, but twice! The first time with Payton and Kim, and then Aunt Nae Nae came over and wanted to take her again. The weather was nice enough to agree with our outings! It's been soo nice and warm here. We feel guilty almost, as there is some not so nice weather all across the country. Sorry folks. :) Lately Sadie has been a bit grumpy. I think it's a slight cold/teething/irritable grizzly-itis. haha. She's sitting up by herself now, and loves drinking out of cups, ours, or her sippy cup, if she must. She skipped over bottles entirely! We're starting her on solids sometime soon, so that will be exciting. hah. She's a happy little baby and we love her so much! She is the center of our lives and we wouldn't have it any other way! Anyways, for your viewing pleasure....I present... Sadie's Day.

12 x 12

I found this cool idea on a blog somewhere!

You take 12 pictures on the twelfth of every month, for 12 months.

Then you have kind of a day in the month of a year type representation of your life. Anyways, I wanted to try it. Here's my January 12th.

L-R: 1. Morning light in our kitchen.
2. Baby hanging with mommy while she lazes a bit.
3. Laundry day! Exciting, no?
4. Lunch. Tried to make an omelet. Failed. Made a "scramble" instead. It was yummy!
5. Baby v.s. sippy cup. Who will win?
6. What a gorgeous day!
7. Our tunes in the car today.
8. Baby was a bit crabby, cuddling with momma.
9. Hmm...is this what Sadie will look like with hair? (Janae's hair, BTW)
10. Daddy's home! Time for his hug.
11. Mail...I love getting my magazines, and two in one day!
12. Daddy always has to rile her up before bedtime. Oh well, isn't that what Dads are for?

P.S. Rory is working on getting the Barbie movie uploaded. (for those of you who care or are extremely bored)

Master Bedroom

Welp, it's not done...far from it, but since I got a new duvet cover I figured I should put something behind the bed.

Headboard=too expensive.

So I gathered my small collection of birdie pictures and hung em up!

Hope you like!

Snazzy!

I got the print at the top right from Goodwill for $1, and then painted the frame black. The bottom right was on sale at Target for $6. The large frame I already had, so $0! I printed the bird (clip art) from this website which I looove! I made the green "mat" out of scrapbook paper. I am ALL about the cheap. So, birdie collage total of $7 plus some spray paint and cardstock.

Yessss!!

The other side of the room...not so cute yet. I want to paint that mirror white and well, the lighting has something to be desired, but all in due time!

Not to mention the closet doors. I know, honey. You have a lot to do. No prob. It makes getting dressed in the morning that much faster. ;-)

Sadie likes it too!

Rory's opinion is that people are going to think we're "bird watchers or something". lol

Ginger

No, I am not posting a picture to show off my child's enormous noggin, although the camera angle might lead you to believe that. Just look at how red her hair is! Definitely her daddy's hair.

We got out for a walk with Kim and Payton today....the weather is gorgeous!

73 degrees, or so Yahoo says.

I believe it!

P.S. Maybe, just maybe we will post the Twilight Barbie movie...you might have to bribe Rory, cause I have no idea how to do it! hehe

The past few days....

Ugh, I'm making myself sick right now by eating all my Christmas candy. Well, not ALL of it, but an entire Lindt Snowman has now met his demise. Poor little guy never had a chance. Cassy and I did some full on shopping today, hitting up Ikea (again, I know!), Old Navy and Home Goods. I got the duvet cover I had been pining after since my last trip, and it looks pretty darn cute! Needs some pillows...I feel another project coming on!

I finally got my craft room cleaned up from Christmas (it was wrapping presents central) so that's been nice and I've been working on some new things and enjoying my sewing machine again. Also the watching of Friends that comes along with that.

Yesterday poor baby had to get some more shots at the doctor's. I didn't have Rory to defer to, so I had to hold her down while looking across the room and trying hard not to sniffle too loud. She's been quite the grump and her poor little leg is red and a bit puffy. (don't worry, we checked on it and they said it's a normal side effect) She weighs 15 pounds now! No wonder my arms....excuse me, guns, are so buff lately. I LOVE not having to work them out!(not that I do anyways, so even more of a bonus!)

We also visited with my grandparents yesterday, who enjoyed seeing Sadie! She even laughed for the occasion! One of these days we'll get a good video her giggles and post it up. I swear, it's the cutest thing. ever.

Tuesday night Joanna and Jarom came over to make....a Barbie movie! Ok, we used to spoof movies and books with Barbies when we were young. Ok, I was in High School. But still, it was so fun. We did Harry Potter, Sweet Valley High, Star Wars, Oklahoma!, and now.....Twilight! Wow it was pretty humiliating-I mean funny! The whole fam is coming over to watch it tonight. The little guys absolutely LOVE when we make them. Jarom is our funny man. I'm the camera person and producer, and Joanna fills in the blanks. Should be good for a laugh!

Tonight we were watching TV, and Sadie noticed my ring. Next thing I know:

She just had to get a taste. Yummm...diamonds!

Sadie's new toys

1. Rocking horse that, when you squeeze the ear, shakes its head and tail and makes horsey noises. (not sure if that scares her, yet)

Horsey noises by Joanna are extra.

2. Jumper/Bouncer. Sadie loves this thing like a nerd loves his computer. Nuf' said.

Here's to a new year of growing and playing!

(We'll let you know how it goes with the horse.)

no clever title today

Not that I'm ever clever really. I just like to think I am, so humor me. ok? ok. This is me today:

rushing around making pizza for two lazy bums. (R and Nae)

meanwhile baby tries to eat my camera

and generally wreak havoc

while these guys were zoned out in front of the Wii, I was finishing up this project:

I finally found an oval frame today, at Goodwill, for $2! awesome.

Look at us, just happy on the wall. :-)now I just need something to put in front of that ugly vent. A bench I am thinking...
