recycled gift box tutorial

thought i’d share this little idea i had for recycling cereal boxes, probably not the most unique, but crafty and green nonetheless!

you’ll need:

a cereal box
a glue gun
your hands

that’s it!

first gently break down the box along the side and the bottom.

this is what it will look like. (yes, we shop at wal-mart, and that is my breakfast about 90% of the time…i’m boring)

turn inside out and bend all flaps to the inside to make them more pliable. then use your hot glue gun to attach the sides and bottom together.

then, tuck in the top like you normally would on a cereal box!

place your gift inside, wrap with wrapping paper, or simply decorate with a ribbon or yarn! easy peasy, and totally free! that’s my kind of project!

tune in tomorrow for a jean skirt refashion! (for the sadester, of course)

***If you have used any of my tutorials, I’d love if you’d add a quick pic to my flicker group! Thanks!***

  13. I can’t believe I didn’t think of this, I’m all about saving money and always reuse gift boxes/bags but have run out – I was just thinking (literally 10 minutes ago) that I didn’t have anything to put my mum’s birthday present in and then I read this!!
Also, nothing boring about that cereal – it’s my favourite 🙂

  14. Fantastic! I was just thinking a bout gifts I need to take home to my cousins little girl and this seems like a really great way to package her gifts!

  15. I’ve been making gift “bags” from cereal boxes by cutting the tops off after turning, making 2 holes on each side for the straps and gluing tissue paper on the eges for decor, never thought of using it as a box actually, do love the idea and versatility, thanks!

  16. Another box I find great to use are the boxes where the soap from Costco/Kirkland comes in, they hold 3 bars of soap so when you turn them it makes for a beautiful blue gift bag!
