That's what the headline would read today at our house. Sadie has been trying all day to eat my face! I don't know what has brought about this somewhat disturbing behavior, but hopefully I will survive her gummy rampage. Wish me luck.

the new kid on the block
Tada! Our new couch arrived this morning via the Rory and Chris Express. Yay! It looks perfect! I love it. It's a tad smaller than our old couch, but it gives us more space behind the couch (which, let's face it, is really where we needed it....ha.) Nonetheless...looks good don't it?

the great sofa search
We were on the hunt today. For a couch. We took off this morning, Aunt Nae Nae in tow, to San Jose for the great sofa search. Alright, we went to two stores. Anyways, the first store had one we liked but enormous shipping prices. The second place was Ikea. Ahhh, I love Ikea. The land of cheap housewares. Who doesn't love that store? We ruled out their couches pretty quickly (too short), but still had fun shopping around. I got some lovely white planters, picture frames (which I have already turned into a project, will post pics tomorrow perhaps), curtains, a cute pillow cover, a large plant for the living room, and some christmas tree ornaments at 50% off. Sah-weet! Janae picked up a few tiny plants for her room. I named one of them Fern Gully for her. It is, however, an ivy plant. muwhahaha. Rory was starting to get that glazed over look in his eyes so we left before anything drastic happened. Later on in the evening we headed to "just look" at a sofa option we had seen last Saturday at a store in town. We ended up buying said option. I'm very excited to get it tomorrow, it's much more my style than our present couch. (which was much appreciated for the four years we used it, thanks Jeff and Nora!) Jarom and Steph are inheiriting (sp?) that one. It's comfy. RIP couch. lol.

We had a holly jolly Christmas
Did you? Our Christmas was very nice indeed. It started on Christmas Eve with our annual pizza dinner. Rory and I went to Mountain Mike's and enjoyed being the only customers and listening to a blaring sports program whilst we ate our yummy pizzas. Then it was on to the Lance family Christmas program, where Joanna and I performed our highly anticipated and well received "Rocking around the Christmas Tree" dance. It was a smash hit! There were also violin and piano solos by Josh and Julia, and the choir geeks--er, kids...sung The Holly and the Ivy, very nicely. Much more nicely than I could ever hope to. Then, of course, we acted out the Nativity. Everyone was so, so excited to have a REAL baby Jesus this year. Luckily our actress performed her part very well, with only a slight meltdown that was easily fixed with a binky and toy.

Janae as the Angel/Star, Josh and Julia as Joseph and Mary, Sadie as baby Jesus, and Joanna as the donkey. Don't ask me why she wants to be the donkey, but EVERY year she does. What a strange and funny girl.

Sadie made out like a bandit...well, not so much with her stocking stuffers....you can't really buy a baby candy...

My parents opening their gift from the kids-tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera in San Francisco next week! LUCKY!

Sadie was a champ! She was happy and gurgling the entire day until she got sleepy, then she would just collapse. No fuss, no muss. It was awesome!

We also got to chat with my brother Justin, who's on his mission in Ireland right now. He kept trying to impress us with his "accent" but really he sounded the same. We just smiled and nodded. Too bad he couldn't see us... It was a great first Christmas for Sadie, we hope. It was dang fun for us at least! We had everyone over in the evening for snacks and games. We played some crazy fun Mario Kart on our Wii!
We even had some Christmas poppers all the way from England, courtesy of Jarom. That's where they got these awesome crowns. Yeah, they're stylin'.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

After the program, it was Gramma Jammies time! For years, my Grandma Lance has given the grandkids PJ's for Christmas, and we open them Christmas Eve, so's to wear them all day the next day. My mom was so excited to start buying her Gramma Jammies, she had Sadie's picked out way back in September! hehe.

The next morning we had a late start. 7 am. hehe. The little guys were complaining, but my parents (and the rest of us) were grateful to Sadie for putting off the festivities in lieu of some much needed sleep. She liked tearing at the paper, but of course didn't really get what was going on.

Christmas Lights a-go-go
Tonight the Lance kids hopped in the suburban for the yearly look-at-lights ride around Gilroy. Rory was kind enough to stay home and watch his DVR'd shows...I mean the baby while I went with my fam. Don't feel bad for him. We wouldn't have fit in the car anyways.

Silhouette mania
Silhouettes are so totally hip nowadays. (confession: I had to google how to spell silhouette....dur.) My Grandma Lance had them first though! lol. So, I've seen this silhouette ornament idea on a few blogs, and wanted to share it cause it's so cool! I made one last night...out of cardboard, but hey-it works. My mini glue gun is my friend. Except when it burns me. I really like the idea of making these every year for Sadie and the rest of our future offspring. It's a fun cool way to see how they (are going to) grow! So here's the first one. Ding! Round one. There's my little baldie!

I made these two silhouettes of me and Rory a few months ago, using this tutorial. Real quick and idiot proof. I didn't even print off the picture, I just traced it off my computer screen. Is that bad?

Then spray paint your frames if they're an ugly gold-ish color like mine were. I'm still looking for another oval frame for Sadie, so don't think we forgot about her!

Christmas in the Park
Today Cassy and I packed up the kiddos and headed to downtown San Jose for Christmas in the Park. I had never been, so Cassy explained that basically they put up a BUNCH of trees and various community groups and school classes and etc decorate them. Anyways...we took the light rail train downtown...I haven't done that for awhile!

Once we got there we had fun meandering through the trees and dodging what seemed like thousands of elementary school kids on field trips.

Bouncing Wreaths
Yesterday at Kim's house, all the cool kids were getting in the bouncer. So Sadie of course had to try out Payton's bouncer. Being only her second time on a bouncer, she was still a little hesitant, but she had some fun bouncing...and also just "hanging" out. Being around two older babies make her adorably shy! We really want to get her one of these! Christmas is coming up....

I made this wreath today...my fourth this holiday season...I just love wreaths! I got the idea from this blog, and picked up a foam wreath at the dollar store. Holla for the dolla store. haha. Just kidding. But not really. The dollar store is awesome.

Four months old...
I know I say it every month, but time flies so much when you have a baby! She's getting so big and learning new things every day...mostly where her various body parts are located. Ears, feet, tongue, and so on. She's also doing this thing where she moves her jaw up and down like she's chewing or trying to talk. I don't know what that's about, but it's way cute.

She's also getting steadier at sitting up, and last night she rolled from her front to back, to both sides, in a row. No biggie, you know. lol. Rory and I are continuing to fall in love with our little princess! (especially Rory, she has him wrapped around her finger....and all her toes)

Whirlwind day
This morning was Rory's morning to sleep in, so Sadie and I got up and watched some HGTV together. It was great quality bonding time. She especially enjoys Designed to Sell, Lisa LaPorta is her fav designer! Rory eventually got up and we slowly got ready for the day, as Rory cleaned out our garage-yay!-and made a dump run. Go hun! Rory's parents took us out for lunch at Famous Dave's (aka Rory's obsession) and that was, of course, yummy!
Sadie with Grandpa Christian's hat-doesn't she look cute?

Sadie with Grandpa Christian's hat-doesn't she look cute? Then we headed to Target for stocking stuffers. For me. Yes, I buy most of my own presents. Sad?, yes-a bit. I do get what I want for sure however. hehe. Then I made this awesome corn chowder and we took it to our ward Christmas party. Most of it was gone when we left, so...good stuff I suppose! Thanks, Ina, for making me look good.

And yes, we dressed up for the biblical theme. Rory even jumped in on the fun. Notice his finely crafted towel and tie headress. hehe! I wasn't planning on it, but Janae pushed me over the edge right before we left. You only live once, right?
Also, I am making these again.

Holiday traditions
1. Egg nog or Hot Chocolate? Oh, hot chocolate by far...especially with whipped cream on top. In fact, just give me a cup of whipped cream and I'm happy.

2. Do you wrap presents or bag them? Wrap...I loove wrapping presents. That's what I did today. My tree looks so much more happy with presents underneath it.

3. Colored Lights or White? White, but we have both. They look like little stars.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, but we used to tie bunches of the real stuff together with ribbon and sell it around Christmastime, for our violin trips and such. My grandpa hacked it off one of his trees for us.
5. When do you decorate? The day after Thanksgiving. No ifs ands or buts about it.
6. Favorite holiday dish? hmmm...this is weird, but huevos rancheros on Christmas morning, I never get it otherwise cause Rory doesn't like eggs.
7. When & how did you learn about Santa? I can't really remember. I do remember when I last really BELIEVED in him, it was when we had Christmas at our cousins the Pettits when I was maybe 7 or 8, and someone strung up a red bulb outside our window and shook some bells. I was SOLD.

8. How do you decorate your tree? With pretty things.
9. Snow...love it or dread it? Love to play in it. Hate to drive in it/go to work in it.
10. Can you ice skate? I suppose I can. I am not too steady though.
11. Do you remember your favorite gift? Hmmm...when I got Samantha from the American Girl Doll line. I was sooo pysched. Also my first cell phone.

12. What is the most important part of the holidays? Spending time with family. Remembering the reason for the season. The giving spirit is what I enjoy most.
13. Favorite holiday dessert? Peppermint bark. Just made some yesterday...yum!

14. Favorite memory? I love our traditions, opening stockings first in my parents room, coming down one at a time, youngest to oldest, to see our Santa presents, breakfast, and then opening all our presents, one at a time. (and yes, it takes FOREVER with my family, but we love it.)
15. Do you have a special ornament? I love my old homemade ones from when I was in Primary, and I'm digging Sadie's first year ornament right now!

16. What do you do on Christmas Eve? We usually have pizza with Rory's family, and then my family acts out the nativity, and we open Gramma Jammies, watch the Claymation Christmas special, and then the sheet comes up. DO NOT GO PAST THE SHEET. Or you will be sorry!

17. If you could have anything for Christmas this year what would it be? A million bucks. And a new car. And....world peace.
I tag: Cassy, Janae, Jenni, Lindsey, Kim, and whoever is bored!
