The kitchen is (almost) finished!

Really, all we have left to do is get our microwave, which is supposed to be next week. On our 5 year anniversary. Also we may be in the hospital. Oh well, I'm over it. haha. Here are some lovely pictures of our brand new kitchen...my dream kitchen. I can't believe they got it done so fast! Here is a before shot so that you can see the FULL transformation. Cause it was pretty bad when we bought it. lol. (Please ignore the ugly air conditioner in the window and the random stuff on the counters. We also don't have any shelves in the upper cabinets yet. So two things left.)

BEFORE

AFTER....ahhh.

My Grandma is so funny, she said it looks like a magazine. I agree. It's surreal!

Fun kitchen art from this etsy shop.

Why am I showing you pictures of my pantry? Cause I'm so excited to have shelves! All our food was on the floor or countertops for the past few days. (not that we even filled very many shelves haha) so yay for shelves. Thanks Rory!

"Cribs" style picture...here's our (empty) fridge.

Our cute little "retro" looking toaster

Awesome sink, that, by the way, Rory installed. Oh yeah, he's awesome!

Our cool stove.

No my cat's not dead, or even sleeping...she's just enjoying the floors. Can you blame her?

Tonight I'm hoping to corral Rory into hanging up stuff in the baby's room, so maybe I will have "finished" pics of that up tomorrow too. Yay!

I think I'm nesting.

Because all of a sudden I just HAD to organize all of my loose recipes into binders. Even though it took me like 2 hours and I'm really tired now...there was no stopping me! I just turned on Shark Week and went to town. (which is weird also cause sharks scare me)

I went to the doctor yesterday and she said I was only 1, maybe 1 1/2 centimeters dilated still, but the baby had "dropped". All of you mommas know how that can be painful I'm sure. So it's been fun today walking around. Oh yeah. lol. The good thing is is now we have some food in the house and we're ready....enough...for the baby to come. Not totally settled in at the house, but close enough that it wouldn't be too crazy if she came right now. Oh! I broke in Henry and Lola....they sing you a song when the load is done as well! Soo cute. I love my washer and dryer.

Swei Jows

Sooo...Sunday I said I would tell you about Swei Jows. (I don't know how to spell it so I made this spelling up) My dad went to Taiwan for his mission for the LDS church and had these almost everyday. They are like boiled potstickers, and have wraps filled with pork and cabbage and garlic and ginger. Oh yum! You dip them in soy sauce and then eat as many as possible. We always make at least 7 or 8 trays for my family. Even Rory likes them! It has become the "test" for boyfriends and now girlfriends. Heaven help anyone who dates one of my siblings who doesn't like Asian food! They would be teased forever! So here we all are, except Jarom taking the picture, making swei jows in honor of Stephanie, his super cute and sweet new girlfriend who we all got to meet this past week when she came to visit. She is my cousin John's wife's sister. hehe. Got that straight?

Kitchen Exasperation

So, this is a picture of our kitchen right now! Looks good huh? Wait, what's that down on the floor? Oh it's just Rory in his Sunday pants trying to hook up our dishwasher. Hold on, weren't you supposed to get your appliances yesterday, on Saturday?, you might ask yourself. Why yes we were! Kick back and listen to this whopper of a story. So we purchased our appliances about 2 or 3 weeks ago at a store that I won't name but rhymes with Nest Rye (ha) and they told us that a few of our appliances were back ordered but we could have them all by the 26th. (the microwave was in stock BTW) We agreed to have them all shipped at that time, and were told someone would call us the day before to set up a delivery time. We received that call...and they said that now the microwave was NOT in stock. "WHAT?!," We asked calmly and politely. We asked if they could deliver the other appliances anyhow. They said yes and set up a time slot for us (2:30 to 4:30, not that it mattered) So the next day we are sitting around like chumps waiting for them to show up....time passes. Finally at 5 pm I go and wake poor Rory up from his nap, we call them to see what's going on, and hear the startling news that the appliances DIDN'T GO OUT. You want to know why? Because a "system error" caused the delivery to cancel because our microwave that they weren't supposed to sell was not available. AGH! This is with no food in the house at all, we had been planning on going shopping afterwards to stock up. So, long story short, they were able to deliver them this morning at 7 am (!), and luckily were done before church started at 8:30. So, Rory's been working on hooking stuff up and etc. But, our fridge and dishwasher and stove work now at least! yay! Anyways...gotta run...my family is doing swei jows with everyone. I will tell you about swei jows later...yum!

Oh hello there!

Pretty appliances

Best. Thrifting. Ever!

So I was perusing flickr to find ideas for my breakfast nook wall, and found this fun idea to hang plates on the wall.....it inspired me, so off I headed to our local Goodwill to scour the store for some plates. It's not like I have a house to unpack or a baby to have soon! An hour later I left with a cartful of stuff. (and some plates haha) Here are some of my finds...I just couldn't not share...I was seriously giddy when I left! hehe

Fun basket for $1....I'll put something in it!

Art for the master room I think....$4

Awesome alphabet and pictures toy! Just needs some glue. $3

Cute little house candle holder and tealight...both $1 I think

Crate for baby's toys...$5

Whole box of Lincoln Logs! (remember those? I loved them!) $4!

Assorted vintagey plates...about 50 cents to a dollar each. I love the brown polka dot one.

Oh! and what could be in this box?

Awesome wooden letters! $3

I also got a couple other things, a book, a cute top, and a wall cabinet...but they aren't as cute. Anyways....That's it!

Sunset Beach

Last night we took a break from unpacking and cleaning and headed down to Sunset Beach where Rory's sister Mandy and her kids were camping. (they're in town for the week) It was really nice on the beach, a bit windy, but warm! The sand felt good to my little fat toesies. haha. After sitting at the beach for a bit, we headed up to their campsite for some tacos and later, some smore's! oh yum. It was fun, and we didn't smell that smoky when we got home, which is a plus. lol.

Me rubbing Rory's scruff. He doesn't "have time to shave" right now

Rory playing with the color settings on our camera. Pretty, no?

39 weeks! Yes I know I'm huge. Hope she comes soon!

Whew!

Well, we are all moved in! Except for a few random things still at my inlaws that we have to get, our stuff and our lives are now in Gilroy! Even Ally came down last night. We had thought about bringing her down today or Saturday, but I missed her. Rory surprised me by bringing her down last night on the last load! yay! She's doing pretty good, she was a bit jumpy at first, but she looves the windows at the front of the house. She keeps watch for us very well. So we moved last night with the help of some of Rory's co-workers, my family, and (insert whistle here) my brother Jarom's new girlfriend Stephanie. (that's another story though hehe) Unpacking really goes pretty quick once you have a place for everything figured out. Poor Rory doesn't have a desk right now though, so his room is in limbo. It was a bit strange the first night, felt like camping out in a way...and the lights and windows were all in the wrong places! lol. Also we have no blinds or window coverings in our bedroom so I couldn't sleep much past 7. agh. We had no food in the house either (on account of no fridge or shelves in our pantry), so I went out in search of some grub this morning, and remembered this awesome bagel shop I used to go to. They still had their marinara bagels! yum. Also got a yummy little smoothie. I also had to go drop off an order at the post office (had to call my mom cause I forgot where it was), guess what? It's like, 3 minutes from my house! yay! No driving 10 minutes into town just to drop off an order. love it! We got our internet and TV set up earlier (we are internet junkies...I felt cut off from the world all last night!), and the internet is super speedy! We lived out in the country before, so the only internet available was pretty slow. It's awesome. I feel this will not help my addiction to blogging in the least! haha. So basically we're settling in slowly but surely. We have a lot more to do on the kitchen tomorrow, but we are getting our appliances! That will be so nice! I will post some pics when those go in. For now, here's a look at what our house is starting to become....a home!

Living room...

Kitchen...

Rory's room (office)...

Nursery!

My crafty haven...

...and the master! (room, not the cat)

P.S. I just uploaded those pictures in like, a minute! That would've taken me at least 5-10 minutes before. Awesome! hehe

Baby's got some moves!

video

I took this video yesterday while I was lazing about watching TV. The baby just wouldn't sit still! Hopefully you can see how much she's moving around... if not, just trust me, she was going at it. So...had some contractions Monday while we were moving stuff down to the house. They hurt a bit. haha. Nothing steady or long though, and they stopped. A few yesterday, but not too many or too painful. I was actually able to make it to the post office, and pack some more! Yesss. So....carpet went in yesterday! It's like a real live house! It's comfy and soft and I love the color. I of course got started right away on the baby's room, but didn't get far in the decorating scheme of things. I forgot to take pictures of the other rooms carpeted because of said distraction, so this little sneak peek will have to do for the carpet pictures for today.

Speaking of memories...(I know, I wasn't), I guess no one remembers me, sniff sniff. lol. (see previous post) Anyways, enjoy the sneaky peek and video, I will try and take more pics today as we move more stuff! We're hoping to be in by Thursday. Like, our bed and computers and everything! Can't wait!

P.S. I wrote this last night originally...but someone remembers me! Although I'm not sure who....lol

Pregnant woman vs. moving...who will triumph?

I went for my weekly doctor's appointment this morning, and she said I was 1 centimeter dilated but with no effacement. So...something's happening! She was surprised that I was dilated at all because I told her I hadn't had too many contractions. Just once in awhile and not for very long either. Anyways, this doesn't really mean much...I could go into labor in a few weeks or tomorrow...there's no way to tell! I just hope she hangs on inside me for another week at least! lol. We're already starting to move our stuff down, we did a little on Saturday and we're moving a bunch of stuff today and tomorrow probably. It will be nice to finally get the carpet in tomorrow so that we don't have to pile everything in the garage anymore! yay! On another topic, my mom said she wanted to buy us some knives for our kitchen because, well, we don't have any. (duh) She's going to get us CUTCO knives! woo-hoo! So excited...is that lame to get so excited over some kitchen knives? naw. You know you're all jealous. hehe.

So pretty and shiny, huh?

Counters and chairs and Batman oh my!

Yesterday the counter top tile got put down! They still have to grout it, but it looks soo good! Starting to look like a real kitchen. We're moving some stuff down today, it will be nice when we can just start moving everything next week.

We also scored this little breakfast nook table from craigs list. It will go in the same room as the kitchen, it's just dirty right now so we stuck it in the dining room. We are planning on painting it perhaps...cause it's pretty close in color to the floors.

Last night we went to see The Dark Knight with Chris and Cassy Watson. I won't ruin it for anyone, but it was really good. I still like Batman Begins better though. This one was LOONG (2 1/2 hours anyone?) and way darker, but still a good Batman flick. Christian Bale's "Batman" voice still cracks me up though. lol.

Birdie Art

I made some super cute & easy art for the little one's room today. I bought these birdie vinyl stickers from this etsy store, stuck them to some scrapbook paper, slapped it in some Ikea frames, and tada! Instant art! lol.

P.S. Also, I got "interviewed" for a crafting blog for my etsy store and it's up already. Here it is, if you want to check it out. My answers are cheesy, but oh well! You have to scroll down a little bit for my post. :-)

Kitchens, hats, booties and blogs.

Hi there everyone! Welcome to a smorgasbord (sp?) of information. Yesterday Rory and my dad attached the plywood to the cabinets for the base for the counter tops, and it looks good! They also filled in a gap that we had because of our window placement (don't get me started), and after tonight we're gonna be all ready to get the counter tops installed. Which is good cause they're coming tomorrow morning to start! Also, we finally heard from the carpet guys, and they're installing it next tuesday. Kinda wrecks my plans to move this saturday, but we can still move SOME stuff I guess. It's just bad timing because next week is the Gilroy Garlic Festival (a big deal here) and mostly ALL of my family are working saturday shifts. Oh well! I won't let that stop me from moving. Hopefully.

My cousin Jenni got here yesterday after quite the flight adventure. We hung out at Grandma's for awhile and gabbed. We swapped some presents for our babies. I made her daughter Amelia some onesies and she made the CUTEST stuff for the baby. I mean CUTEST.

First, these adorable crocheted hats. ahh!

The best part are these clippies that you can clip either in their hair or hat!

Some more accessorizing (sp? again. I am so bad) happiness. Love the little bracelet and crocheted flowers!

Oh my goodness I am in love with these booties!

The cute little straps held on by a sparkly bead. *sigh*

Also, another blog found one of my onesies and liked it and posted it on her blog/review site. It's all about polka dots! How awesome is that? I loove polka dots. Here is the link if you're interested. ANywhoo, have a nice day everyone!

P.S. This is what I found downstairs when I went to switch the laundry. hehe! She looks like she thinks she's in trouble. Which she probably should be, it's just too cute!

Some eye candy...

Finally got my fabric semi organized-and why not by color? It's so pretty. Figured now is a good time because of the upcoming move. Enjoy the colorfulness. (is that a word?)

bluesy greens

pinkish reds

orangey crazy colors

this is fabric picked out for a project I'm working on...maybe with my cousin if she likes the idea. She's coming out today from Utah with her little girl to visit, I am so excited, she's super crafty and makes the cutest hats and booties. we're gonna live it up-craft style!

Ahhhh. That was the sigh of relief to see that order of 44 onesies go out the door to the post office. Well, not by themselves of course, but you know.
