It's our first Anni-cali-versary!

haha. 10 points to whoever can tell me where I came up with the title. (Cassy that means YOU) A year ago today we were driving back from Utah...Rory had just graduated from UVSC, and all our stuff was packed up and being shipped. Boy oh boy were we glad to be moving home. I do miss some things about Utah though. In no particular order...

I miss the 4 or 5 craft stores within a few miles of our house. ahh. bliss.

Cafe Rio salads. I am seriously mopping up my desk right now from the drool...

The view of the lake...we could see it from our neighborhood when we took walks at night. I miss the mountains too.

Also, we of course miss our friends and our awesome ward! Candice and Mike, Steven and Allene, Delma, Julie and Jason, and all my kids in my sunday school classes. Shout out to Utah!

Bag version 2.0!

Hey folks! I realize I'm posting a lot of crafty stuff lately. This post is no exception, but someday I will post another pic of my growing belly. It itches now sometimes. Yippee. haha. So....I made another bag last night, with the same pattern as before, just a little modified. I put in a magnetic clasp-which makes all the difference! Also I used a stiffer outer fabric so it hold it's shape really well. The straps are more narrow, which is better looking-to me. :-D I love making these bags! It took 1/2 hour less this time... yay. Although I probably should have gone to bed instead. But you know how it is...one more chapter of your book, or just finish this certain project....and the next thing you know, it's 12:30 and you're a zombie! When did I get to be so old!? haha. Also, I'm pregnant, I guess that's also a reason. I've been working like crazy on my Etsy store, getting out some orders and doing some custom stuff for people! A lady who has a children's accessories store in New York asked for some of my tie onesies to see how they do in her store! I'm pretty excited about the possibilities, and so is Rory. Although he keeps complaining that I'm filling the DVR on our TV up with shows I'm not watching because I'm sewing! hehe. I just tell him to shush. Anyways, here are some pics of bag version 2.0!

Baby blocks and other projects...

Here are those cute fabric blocks I was talking about making...aren't they fun? I put bells in them too, but I had to put like 4 in each in order to hear them. hehe. Then Ally thought they were toys for her....I have a feeling she will be doing that with most of our baby toys. They all make fun noises! Poor thing. Anyways, here's a pic! Tutorial here.

Also, a dress I started with my sister yesterday. The pink dress on the pattern is hopefully what it will look like when it's done!

Some new fabric, the one on top will probably become another dress or outfit for the baby, and the stripes I will probably make a bag out of...looking for a good tote bag pattern!

Just call me the Bag Lady

Since the sewing bug caught me, I've wanted to learn how to make bags, clothes, and otherwise useful items. So last night I made a trip to Joann's (second of the week, I swear I might as well work there) and picked up some zippers etc... I found some easy patterns, and whipped up these two bags. They really didn't take much time, and it was so fun! The zipper bag took like 1/2 hour, and hey-zippers aren't that hard when they're not in a dress or skirt. That's where I've had trouble with them before. The green bag took longer, maybe 2 hours, luckily I had some fabric that went well together, or I would have been making ANOTHER trip to Joann's...I am obsessed, what can I say? hehe. I think I might shorten the strap a little, it might look better. The great thing is, I got the fabric from the remnant pile, so total the fabric cost me like $5. No joke! Here are some pics!

100 days to go!

Well, actually, 101 days to go...but I knew I would probably forget tomorrow, so I'm being preemptive. (oooh big word for the day) Soon I'll be in the double digits! Although who knows when she'll actually come...she could be late...she could be early. As long as she gets here SOMETIME. We registered yesterday for baby stuff and it really kinda sunk in a little bit more. We're going to have this little baby to take care of in like 3 months! It's easy to lose track of time when you're counting how many weeks have gone by, as opposed to how many you have left! When did I start going down the other side of the hill? Time flies so fast.

New in the store!

I worked on some new items for my etsy store over the weekend...go take a gander! Spread the word to all your friends with babies, or if you need a baby shower gift...hint hint...they're great gifts! Click on the link to Etsy.com on the side of my blog!

Bunny and Block

So, my second attempt at making a stuffed animal was a little better. For one thing, Rory did not dub it "psycho demon kitty", (or psycho demon-bunny), so I'm ahead already. We named her Bunny. I know she doesn't have a face yet, but I'm pregnant! Give me a break. (that excuse is soo handy sometimes!)

Also, I tried a soft fabric block pattern that was surprisingly easy, so I'm waiting for some cute fabric coming in the mail, to make a set of blocks for the baby. I also need to find some bells to put inside so they make noise! I thought I had some around here, but I guess not. Oh, and I also (finally) figured out how to do a slip stitch! I had to google it, but it was pretty easy to figure out and now I can close my seams without it looking like a thread massacre! yesss.

cute eh?

My sewing machine and sewing corner

Here's a pic (finally) of my uber cool sewing machine. Also my sewing area. Just picture me on the folding chair (with a pillow stolen from the couch) for about 4-5 hours every day and that's been my life for the past few weeks! It's so addicting, making things from...pretty much nothing! so yay for creating!

Cat vs Stuffed Cat

So my first attempt at making a stuffed animal the other night resulted in a kinda demonic looking kitty, so I decided to give it to Ally instead of the baby. She liked it a lot! In a rip-it's-head-off kind of way. haha.

Happy Birthday JoBo!

Today is my little sister's 18th birthday! I can't believe it. She is NOT allowed to be that old yet. Last week was my twin brother and sister's 16th! How are they all grown up already? Oh well. Anyways, I made some cupcakes in Joanna's honor to bring to work. (where she, my brother Jarom, Rory, Rory's dad and brother, and I all work) They were a big hit, as sugar always is...so here are some pics of my super quick icing job. Literally 10 minutes! The icing looks grey here, but it was purple! I swear!

Exhaustified

Pregnancy is TIRING. I read somewhere that being pregnant is like working an extra two hours a day on top of what you regularly do. Boy I am feeling it today. Well, most of the time. I'm almost in my third trimester, but whoever said you get your energy back in the second trimester must have been crazy. Here's a funny for you. It cheered me up! Ahhh, pregnancy.

24 weeks!

It's official. I've got a belly. At least it's a baby belly and not a beer belly. Cause that would also mean I drink beer. Which I don't. lol. So here's the update on the belly. I think I've grown a lot the past few weeks! Please excuse my white arms. They've been covered up the past six months or so. :-D So, whenever I mention that I feel big or my belly sticks out...Rory lovingly says,"That's cause you're fat!.....(pause while I get mad)....with a baby!" hehaha. Obviously he's just teasing me. It's kind of cute. He likes to talk to my belly. "Hi baby" he says. He hasn't really thought of a funny nickname for her yet. Soon enough I'm sure!

My Etsy Shop

Feel like going shopping? Need a cute baby shower present? Then head to my Etsy shop. Do I sound like an infomercial? hehe. Well, I opened my Etsy shop this week and have a few of my items up for purchase. I haven't sold anything yet but I am getting some interest. (BTW, Etsy is like eBay for handmade products) A mommy review blog wants to review my products, so I may get some exposure online from that! I hope it can work out so it's something I can do from home while raising our kids. It's SUPER fun too! Go check it out, there's a linky loo on the side of our blog. Caution: You WILL get addicted to surfing Etsy. I did. My twelve step program isn't working very well either. :-D

Crafty Crafty

Sooo....I've been busy lately playing with my new sewing machine! I got the Brother SE-350. It's pretty awesome. It even does embroidery! Rory liked that feature the best. Here are a few things I've made with my new machine. I will post a pic of my machine sometime soon, when it's not pitch black outside and I have more light. Now, off to bed. I have a stuffy nose. Isn't that a side effect of pregnancy? Either that or allergies. Great.

Well, I just outlined this with the machine. Cute huh?

Funny Monday

I love this comic strip! (called Pearls Before Swine) Makes me laugh every time. Well, we had a fun weekend, hanging out with family, a baby shower, watching General Conference, and eating a lot of good food. I'm glad I already have a belly to hide large meals. lol. After work today, Rory and I are going to go buy me a sewing machine! I'm excited, recently I got more interested in sewing projects. I think I'm nesting early. :-D Well, have a happy monday everyone!

April Fools!

So, just kidding. It's still a girl! I put a post up on Myspace too and "got" a lot of people. It was pretty funny. So yes, the baby is still female, as far as I know. :-D

It's a......boy?

So I went in this morning for my normal check up, and the doctor (someone I hadn't seen before) did another quick sonogram to check on the baby's size. She was looking around, checking things...and then she said, "so he's looking good." I said," HE'S?" She said,"Yes, it's a boy, you did know that right?" I said," NO! they told us it was a girl!" I guess it's easier to mistake a girl for a boy since they can be hiding...things. I did have my previous ultrasound a little early on as well. So, it's a boy! Guess I should get busy returning all those little girl clothes and nursery items. Go Team Blue! I'll scan in some pictures later of the pictures she gave me. We're pretty shocked to say the least!
